Nice staff. There is Park and open area around. Cool and mild weather in summer as well. We stayed there for one night and did not get to taste their food. But the rooms are quite homely and gives you the Kolhapuri feel.

We decided to check in at mtdc jyotiba royale resort. This resort is approximately 20 kms from kolhapur city. Initially we were sceptical since the resort was far away from resort. As we were approaching, climate better and better since the resort is located on hill top, near jyotiba temple. We were in for surprise when we saw the entire resort covered in fog at 9 am in morning. Rooms are strictly OK, restaurant is nothing great. Rooms are spacious. Should not miss for the location as the resort is on hill top with fog in the middle of day also. Property location is awesome.

We were looking for a place to stop for the night en route to Pune from Goa. It had to be near Kolhapur, as we wanted to visit the famous Mahalaxmi Temple, but we did not want to stay in the city itself. Finally we found this imposing property at the top of a wooded hill near the Jyotiba Temple, about 20 km from Kolhapur. It is just a stones throw from the Jyotiba Temple and ST bus stand. As you enter the gates you get the feeling that you are entering a Rajasthani Maharajas Palace. There is a board at the gates saying that this is the Jyotiba Royale operated by the state owned MTDC. The building structure is very imposing, and there is huge compound with some flowering shrubs and garden plants and trees and greenery all around. And the views from the grounds are fantastic, to say the least. Being at the top of a hill, also known as the Jyotiba Dongar, you get a panoramic view of the hills and valleys around Kolhapur. Being a week day there were plenty of rooms available, with room tariffs ranging between Rs.850 to Rs.1200 (taxes extra). All the rooms were non ac, with basic amenities, but very neat and clean. We selected a deluxe corner room on the first floor which had two balconies looking out in two directions. At night we sat outside in the balcony and enjoyed the fabulous views of the valley with twinkling lights, and stars in the sky. There was a cool breeze blowing, even though it had been a hot summer day. They have a restaurant where we had our lunch and dinner. It is a nice restaurant with an open-air sit out. You get the basic Indian vegetable curries, chapattis, dal, rice, soft drinks and a few sweet dishes. We ordered the veg thali for lunch, which was served in a jiffy. We also tried their Sol Kadi drink which was quite good. We also had our dinner and next days breakfast here, since there are not many other restaurants nearby. They served a good poha for breakfast. When there was a power outage in the afternoon we had to open our balcony doors for ventilation. There is no generator backup. The furniture and bathroom fittings are in need of some maintenance. However, the location of this hotel with its fabulous views, and the peace, greenery and serenity all around, more than made up for the lack of some of the amenities. Jyotiba Royale would be a place worth visiting during the monsoon and winter months.

We were visiting Kolhapur for sightseeing with family. JR has the best location. Ambience is not so appealing. But Room Cleanliness is good. Bathrooms are good. Though some of faucets are missing or not so good. But hygiene is good. I stayed in Deluxe Room. Bed is good. Room did not smell. It had a nice view over valley. It is a good MTDC hotel. I am not so hopeful about food/meal. Lunch was not hot and DAL was stale. These things should not bother you as there are plenty of options around within 10 miles. Approach roads are good. Staff is good. there is entry tax when you enter the Village. but you need to pay it once later village staff allows you to enter once you mention about your stay. Overall good place to stay/sleep. Not a jazzy one. A good BASIC stay with food on your own.

We stayed at Jyotiba Royale for a couple of nights in April-2014. We were two families and had planned our stay for a long weekend with the hope of going around to see Panhala fort, Mahalaxmi temple, a bit of Kolhapur and off course, visit Jyotiba. I read a few reviews about the place before booking it. The location is fantastic if you are looking for a getaway from hustle of the city. It's right at the edge of the mountain and we had nice views of valley. Rooms are big but basic. Unfortunately, the day we arrived, it rained quite a lot (yes, in mid April!) and there was no power whatsoever!! We spent the first night sleepless in dark with mosquitoes and were begining to question the wisdom of booking a room here. Fortunately things were better next day and so had some entertainment in the evening with TV on! Anyway, we didn't really go there to watch TV but the place is a bit isolated and if you are thinking of making it as a "base camp" to visit Kolhapur, beware! The roads to reach the hotel are through Ghats and quite deserted, so evening drives feel little risky, especially with women and children. Kolhapur is good 15-17 km and unfortunately the food available at hotel is quite basic with few options. The staff was friendly but couldn't offer a lot other than smiles! Visiting Panhala was quite easy from here as it is hardly 10 km from the hotel. Overall, it's a good, but basic, place if you want a peaceful weekend away from city life. If you want to have some excitement or you are a foodie then I would suggest you stay some place in Kolhapur town.
