The Raajbari is a pleasing getaway from the city drawing visitors and guests alike with its old world charm and its authentic ambience. A refreshing change from the North Indian mahals and havelis, this Rajbari here in Bengal has managed to retain its history while offering modern day comforts. I quite liked the personal artistic touches, the rustic piano, the old Singer machines, the faded B& W photos. I wish efforts could be made to restore the Grand temple just outside your gates and the dancing pavilion in the midst of the lake with the kings seat adjoining it. You could then boast of a heritage zone so close to the city.

The location of this place is misleading to the experience it offers, particularly the last few turns into the village will really start disappointing you and then you would see a range of very expensive cars passing by you from either direction and that would be a hint that you are heading to the palace/rajbari only. The approach road is so narrow and the external facade of this building is so ordinary that you would ponder twice before entering. Well, every first impression doesn't always last long. This property is actually a great example of that. As soon as you reach the doorstep, you would see a group of local ladies are ready to welcome you in a very traditional & warm way which is not overwhelming, yet appropriately cordial. Then you step right into the courtyard and get absolutely mesmerized by the astounding main building. This building is picture perfect...it is shooting ready...it is the image you always had in mind of a typical zamindar house. You can enjoy the common rooms. The original prison area is converted into reception and a clubhouse. There is a grand dining room with chandelier, a music room and a library setup. Rooms are very spacious, themed of that period, some of them have great views too. Many of them have sitting area outside on veranda or balcony. Bathrooms have tubs. The dining area is open on four sides & adjacent to a waterbody and there is an excellent swimming pool area next to it. The food options are limited but great. There are live counters as well. The sitting is really cozy here. One can play badminton in the adjacent court. I liked the spa experience very much. The staff are very professional, well trained and the setup is grand & unique. Overall, this place is highly recommended to spend some leisure time in style.

I visited the Rajbari on 09 Jun 18. Amazing place and wonderful upkeep. The regal grandeur...unmistakable hospitality...green cover...makes it a truly heritage hotel. Want to thank Mr Rawla , Mr Mitra and Mrinalini for making our stay so memorable...should visit again in winter.
