We stayed at the Summer House Holiday Home, which is in a dream location as it is literally near the Beautiful Thirumullavaram Beach, and with absolutely breath taking scenery and surrounds. The Summer House Holiday Home was pretty clean, well decorated and the overall facilities were very good. The bed was lovely, soft and comfortable which meant we had heavenly sleeps. The views were just pure breath taking, imagine this - you are surrounded by lush coconut trees, you wake up early in the morning and you see the golden sandy beach with deep blue ocean water literally right in front of your doorsteps, stuff of dreams, will for us it was reality as we witnessed all this in reality. The most breath taking views were at sunrise and at sunset when everything is just so beautiful, peaceful, calm and extremely tranquil. The breakfast was very fresh and extremely tasty. The overall service provided by the hosts was one of pure, genuine excellence with a very personal touch. Our hosts were so kind, warm, hospitable and great. Staying at the Summer House Holiday Home was one of the most peaceful, relaxing and tranquil experiences of our lives, and we thoroughly enjoyed our fantastic stay.

We stayed here only 1 night but would have stayed longer if i had more time in India. Kola itself is not good, but i'd go there just to stay here. We arrived in Kollam at 5.45am from an all night bus from Mysore and had not pre-booked. We ran the owner on a whim and they were very helpful and facilitated us saying even though it was very early. We were able to check in super early for no extra charge (though this was most likely because it was out of season). The owner who we spoke to was very helpful and spoke good English, and his wife was the most lovely woman I spoke to in all of India. She cooked us dosa for breakfast and looked after us. The hut is big and sits on a beautiful slither of coast, the best part of all of Kollam coast. In fact, if you do stay here I'd recommend just staying at the place and not venturing to Kollam beach as it's not nice. We did an ok punted canoe tour but that's all this area place has to offer.

I loved this place!!!!!! Entering through the private gate from a quiet lane, I instantly fell in love with Summer House. The accommodation is rustic and simple, comfortable and clean. The grounds are extremely well maintained, manicured white sand under your feet, the sea shore lapping just meters from your door and an extremely attentive host waiting to attend to your every need. Sasi, your host, runs a local restaurant and will happily provide breakfast and dinner at a time that is convenient...... well, 8am/pm is best but I'm sure he will accommodate you as you wish. The best thing is sitting with new found friends (there are only 3 rooms and the 2 times I have stayed I met the most amazing people) at a candlelit table, waves lapping gently beneath us and enjoying great conversation with delicious local food, delivered and served by Sasi. Sasi is an amazing host!!!! His warm gentle manner helps you feel at home and makes it easy to unwind and relax. I made a return trip via Kollam just to stay here again and I definitely would do it again! I loved this place, as did all of the other guests I met while there. Thank you Sasi!!!!

Although there is no beach nearby it is very relaxing to stay right by the ocean and watch the waves and hear the sound. The accommodation is very basic but it's fine. You order your food for dinner and it is served about 45 minutes later. We even had a small lobster for 150 rupees. The owner is nice and he and his wife left about 8:30 pm. Only one drawback is a petrol/gasoline smell, after rooting around I found it was being used to mix paint- with the paint can being left open. I guess people are not aware of the effect of these kind of smells in India, especially in an otherwise idyllic place. Interesting others mentioned good internet but I was not aware that they had internet here. It may be near some ruins of old colonial buildings on the coast but we did not have time to look for it.
