Michael and I spent 10 days in Kerala region. Our visit to Philipkuttys farm was the highlight of our whole trip. We can highly recommend this homestay. Anu her mother in law are so warm and welcomming. They are superb hosts. The cottage was spotless, spacious and very comfortable. The food was delicious Keralan cuisine, we ate in their home, every evening, and were fortunate to have Philip, Anu's son, home from college play the piano for us before dinner. This wonderful family have worked so hard for the past three months trying to restore and repair their lovely home, cottages and farm since the Keralan floods in August. Despite this, they never complained..just rolled up their sleeves with their dedicated staff. The work is on going and we wish them well. Do not miss this experience...We can't wait to return.

My wife and I have just had the most wonderful cooking demonstration and lunch at PhilipKuttys Farm. We arrived by a punted boat across one of the Backwaters and was met at the river bank by the owner Anu Matthews and from that moment on we realised our time here was going to be special. Anu introduced us to he mother, who conducted the demonstration and her son Philip who was home from University. After a pleasant chat and refreshments we went to the cooking area where we watched the amazing cooking of Chicken Kerala Curry , Dahl and Chapati. All the ingredients were explained with some of the herbs and spices coming out of their garden. I even attempted the making and cooking of a chapati which was good fun. After the demonstration we went outside to their Gazebo overlooking the water and tasted the results from the kitchen with several other local delicacies. We spent the rest of the afternoon eating the lovely home cooked food learning about the history of the 200 acre reclaimed land which was constructed by her Father and Husband. The Farm has 7 lovely cottages which can be used for overnight stays, which we will use on our next trip back to Kerala. We highly recommend this experience and is an essential visit if your coming to the area. Anu and her family were great hosts.

This really does feel like a home stay - such a friendly and helpful family and staff. Rooms spacious and well equipped with traditional beautiful furniture. One of our best stays anywhere. Perfect place to unwind and relax. The cottages are beautifully appointed with lots of room and serene surroundings. All of them are on the water front and you get some pretty views where ever you look. Our favourite pass time was to put some chairs out and just watch all the boats pass by. We also absolutely loved all the wonderful home cooked food that was served.

You dont need to travel complete Kerala. A 2 night stay at this farm house is really enough to get the complete Kerala taste. People living here are so good in nature and hospitality. This is an amazing place at kumarakom.

We very much enjoyed our stay with Anu and her Mother-in-law. This farm is located on an island so peaceful surroundings are guaranteed! We experienced a very comfortable cottage with lots of room, a desk and a good bed, tasty home-cooked meals and some interesting excursions. Anu organised some bird-watching trips by boat for us and we came away well-satisfied with our sightings. We also walked around the farm and went back to the mainland for a very good massage at the local hospital. A relaxing stay with lots of snoozing and reading. Wifi a bit patchy but not really necessary on holiday! Bring your own beer and other alcoholic beverages...
