Reason For Rating : Acessibility from the hotel should be mentioned , your address states Hotel is in Kovalam but it is not
by Safwana on Nov 07,2018
What's Good: Cleanliness, hospitality, food.
What needs to improve : Too far from main attraction, too costly taxi service being charged by hotel.
Reason For Rating : Hotel is good, food at hotel is good, but it is far from the main attraction i.e. Poovar and Light House beach. On top of that there is no public conveyance to travel there, need to rely on cab being provided by hotel which is too costly. e.g. I managed to reach hotel from Trivendrum airport for Rs 530/- in taxi but hotel to Trivendrum airport cost me Rs. 1200/-. And the beach next to hotel is not good, it smells a lot due to rotten fish being thrown by fishermen.

What's Good: Its not worth the money.we walked out of the hotel the second day though we had a booking of 3 days. Horrible beach and the property location itself. Very limited staff though they are courteous, Pool with no privacy ( direct visibility from car parking), lizards , mosquitoes and cockroaches in the rooms, food was OK. May be our day was bad but sorry we did not had pleasant experience there. We had to buy 2 night stay in Uday Samudra instead.

What's Good: The hotel is slightly far from the common place. You need to have proper boards at different places and road maps. Secondly, tne beach 3 min far from the hotel should be well advertised and compnay owned auto /vehilce to provide for pick and drop. Food and all are good, staff ar every courteous

We had an amazing stay at Abad Harmonia! The restaurant did excellent food and the service was second to none, the manager even opened up 30 minutes early for us on the last day because he knew we were getting picked up for a tour early in the morning. The rooms were very clean, gardens and pool well kept, staff super friendly The hotel manager was very friendly and would check daily to make sure we were happy with our stay, my Dad suffered with an ear infection during the first few days and the hotel manager arranged for a Dr visit at the local hospital. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to visit!

Over the past ten years we have always spent the first week of our India holiday at Harmonia. This is our eleventh visit. Arrangements couldnt be simpler - we email the hotel from UK to book our room and manager Santhosh arranges our airport pick up. This has gone smoothly (almost) every time. The hotel is clean, welcoming and reasonably priced. The restaurant is good, with generous portions and both Indian and international menus. Breakfast is basically a buffet, with eggs, dosas and other items to order. Dinner service can always be a la carte and a buffet may be available depending on how busy the hotel is. Western visitors should take note that the hotel serves only soft drinks - no beer, wine etc is available, although some guests make their own arrangements elsewhere. The staff, especially manager Santhosh and headwaiter George, go out of their way to make guests welcome and we see many of the same people every year. This is a nice touch in an industry where staff generally come and go regularly. We have watched the well-kept gardens grow lush, becoming better every year. Theyre now a pleasure to walk, sit or laze in, providing plenty of shade if needed. The location is quiet, rural India and its a short walk to a long, usually fairly quiet beach ( busy at sunset and on Sundays). For more tourist infrastructure go to Kovalam, or for everything else go to Trivandrum. Im pleased to note that the lack of maintenance we saw last year has (partially) been addressed. The pool has been retiled, is now crystal clear and a pleasure to use! Some improvements have been made elsewhere too, but there is still the same unrepaired damage to the buildings we saw last year. Particularly annoying is the lack of sun beds for busy times and the too-few ragged, torn, worn out and inadequate sun umbrellas. All of this can easily be rectified. ABAD Hotels need to recognise this and spend the money needed to maintain the standards set by Santhosh over the years. As a getaway its still good and the free WiFi has improved sufficiently to be usable now. Mobile signals are not good, but patience is generally rewarded. I imagine well be back next year and hope well see all the familiar faces and a few more improvements. Footnote for the uninitiated: Kerala State has a love/hate relationship with alcohol - really theyd like to ban it completely like some other states, but they need the revenue from their sales monopoly so they cant. The previous government went all-out to close liquor stores and bars, hoping to magic revenue from elsewhere. The present government has addressed this folly and reversed the policy. Legal sales now continue apace in the disgusting Government Liquor Stores, seedy and usually filthy hotel bars or at overpriced luxury hotels. There have been noises about opening western-style pubs, but Ive yet to see one. In tourist areas like Kovalam there may be informal arrangements and most locals can direct the determined tippler accordingly.

A very quiet and rather tranquil hotel complex surrounding the hotel pool. Rooms in the main block, 3 stories, with balconies overlooking the pool. Several bungalows (bedroom and bathroom) and a health spa. Breakfast & dinner in a separate building. Staff very helpful and accommodating, security gate (useful as one night they kept out a pack of feral dogs) and small shop. Very clean public areas, rooms clean and fresh linen, though some aspects of building are aging a little, but its India. AC in rooms good if a little noisy. Food, mainly buffet style local dishes with some anglicised choices was good. This a great base to explore this part of Kerala (you need transport) then come back and relax as the immediate surroundings are not entirely tourist friendly (the local people living local lives) Will definitely consider returning.

We stayed her for the past two weeks The hotel is lovely and spotlessly clean. We stayed in a superior room facing the pool which was really nice and a very comfy bed. Food at the hotel is delicious and very reasonably priced. Santosh the manger is such a nice man very helpful and accommodating as are all his staff. You can get to the beach buy a small path across the road from hotel. The beach is lovely walk towards the end where the sun beds are the do charge you to use them but it was worth it. It is about a 20 minute tuck tuck ride into town which was 700 rupees there and back. We would definitely come back.
