I returned to Nikki's Nest again this year as I still held very good and find memories of my stay last year. The Ayurveda treatment remains the best I have ever had. The clinic run by Drs. Praveen and Geeta is very well managed, treatments remain an essential part of the experience and again they didn't fail to have a positive impact on me. I must thank Mr. Anand the therapist who was assigned to me for the excellent care given to me. The hotel itself has been through a transformation where rooms, beds, comfort levels, cleanliness etc have been taken to another level. The laundry service is very punctual and nothing had shrunk, over washed or lost. The gardens are a beauty and they add to the peaceful scenery overlooking the sea. The temple bells in the early morning no longer bother me as I sleep like a log due to the Ayurveda treatments. The restaurant is simply the highlight of the day for me. The food is scrumptious! The chef Mr. Raj is a genius of some sorts. His desserts are awesome - coconut based puddings, mousses of different fruits, chocolate anything! The Kerala nights were really fun as we experienced dinner served on banana leaves! The service is simply great. While this is not a five star resort the service certainly equals one. The front desk, security services, tour services were really very well organized, managed with perfect delivery. Nikki's Nest has certainly outdone itself from the previous year. Many thanks to the owner and her daughter for adding the human touch to every aspect of this experience. I'll be back next year for sure.

The resort is located at a nice place next to a Hindu Tempel. The cottages and chalets are nice, the bed was too hard and stiff for me, but the staff gave me an extra matress which was better. The ayurveda treatments were excellent, also the doctors consultaions. The meals were very.very good, wonderful desserts at dinner. The arrangement of the tables in the restaurant were super, you always had the chance to join somebody for the meals if you wanted so. Staff is very helpful and friendly and the owner is very open minded and thankful for any negative or positive comment. I had some health problems especially with my joints. It was incredibly how sucsessful the treatments were. I can very warmly recommend this Ayurveda Resort

We spent 9 days at the resort. The accommodation was OK, included A/C but no internet at the room. Room was cleaned every day, staff is excellent. The restaurant catering vegetarian food, which is at excellent quality, fresh and tasty. Chef and staff at the restaurant are excellent. Doctors are very attentive, always at place and ready to help. Therapists are good. Beach is fine but no chance to swim because of the waves.

This was an incredible experience for me and my business partner when we decided to take a break from business, meetings, deadlines, business trips, and everything that adds stress to one's life! The hotel scores on three accounts: Ayurveda treatment; food and the layout of the resort. Ayurveda treatment at its best is the only way to describe Nikki's Nest. The consultations, care and therapy offered by the two doctors (Dr Parveen and Dr Geetha) reflect the thought and vision given to providing a place to recover and rejuvenate one's health and energy. The host of therapists is another significant feature of the Nest. If you are lucky and get Mr. Anand, then consider yourself to be very well looked after with a firm presence of someone who provides incredible care and attention to your health concerns. The clinic is set up in the middle garden of the property and overlooks huge boulders that lay way below the garden where huge waves crash into it - spectacular scenes including the brilliant sunsets from this location. The doctors prescribe a certain regime of food but don't worry. The Chef Mr. Raj has bountless ideas of salads, soups, vegetarians curries, roasted vegetables, a plethora of rice dishes, dosas, chapatis, Kerala poratas, and yes the deserts (yes I could go on and on). All of this to please the European and non European palates. The dining room overlooks the beach from atop the coconut plantation that slopes gently down to the sands. The calm, peaceful and very clean resort is ideal to cure, rest, recuperate and leave with renewed energy. The place is set on a gentle slopping hill that glides towards a corner of the Chowara Beach where sunrises and sunsets are a joy to experience. The gardens are abound with trees, flowers, shrubs and all these point towards an organic environment. This explains the exceptional quality of the food, teas, and other nutritious meals. Add the Ayurvedic treatments and you are in paradise. While it's therapeutic the availability of books, games and friends that you make here ensure a full day. Walks along the beach or an evening of classical music or dance makes up for the rest of your time. Internet is available but I realized it had to wait. I was on a three week cure which I don't regret at all. This said a return trip is a done deal. Many thanks to the owner, her daughter, Nikki! and her exceptional staff for their kindness and love towards the guests. Must mention that the owner also is open to discussing with her guests on their treatment, food, comfort - any matter under the sun, including cooking!. Some pics attached here were selected to whet your appetite! Many thanks once again.

I spent 3 weeks at Nikki's Nest in Aug. 2017.....I enjoyed the treatments and felt well cared for by the doctors who were always there for you if you did not feel well or had a problem. The atmosphere at the restaurant was really welcoming and warm, as a single traveller I was happy to meet so many interesting and communicative people. It could get a bit crowded at the reception area when too many people sat around to use the internet....I suppose that this changed after the library area was made into a social gathering/internet area at the end of my stay. I did not like the frequent and sometinmes overdosed use of smart phones and tablets at the tables, something that was not condoned by the management but, in my opinion, was not made clear enough. The food was very good and varied, all staff from gardener to cleaning people were very friendly and forthcoming. Reception helped organise trips, and the drivers they had hired were perfect. The music and sounds from the nearby temple were clearly discernible but I got quickly used to it and enjoyed it......temple life plays an important role in India and I, as a tourist, cannot expect the temples to stop running just because I am there. I was at times irritated by some fellow travellers who did not observe the dress code either at the restaurant (people in bathers or men shirtless) or in the resort precincts...... I find it important to dress in a way that befits the culture and religion of the country I am visiting. A very big drawback for me was my room.....Kerala house near the exit to the beach, left side looking from reception. When I entered the room the night of my arrival there was such a mouldy, strange smell.....I suppose the room had not been aired for quite a while. The mattress was so hard I almost could not sleep, there was no mosquito net...and I felt that the cleanliness of the room left a lot of room for improvement....In addition I had no covered terrace, probably the only unit without one in the whole resort which made resting in the shade after treatment mostly impossible. I asked for another room from the first day but was always told there was no way to get another room. I was given an umbrella for the lounge chair in front of the Kerala house, a second mattress, a mosquito net......however that did not make up for the lack of a covered terrace where you can rest when it rains or when the sun shines.....In the first week I was about to cancel the rest of my stay.....but felt that would only leave me with all the negative consequences on my side....In addition the stench coming from the sewers right next to my room could be pretty unbearable at times, inside the room and outside........I kept asking for another room....as a last resort I wrote to my travel agency (Neue Wege), and interestingly enough I had another room, a Chalet, within half an hour. In my eyes this whole "room affair" does not give proof of good customer support and service. So, please do make sure, dear traveller, that, when booking, you do have a covered terrace and that you are not right next to the sewers! When interested in having something tailored I can recommend the tailor who is last on the road up to the main street, on the right side.( He is really nice and does a good job ) The one at Nikki's gets all the customers, he also has a second shop on the left side when walking up to the main road .....he made a few things for me but could not admit that he had messed up my shirt ....the shop "Olive" on the road to the Somatheram is lovely....and if you want to have great sandals made, go to the shoemaker in Kovalam: when walking along the beach promenade coming from the taxi stand turn left right after the German bakery, then walk ahead, pass one shoemaker and the entrance to a hotel, then you find the tiny workshop on your left..... One more thing: If you plan to visit the Ghandi memorial at the southern tip of India, make sure you have water and paper towels to wash your feet after the visit.....I do enjoy taking off my shoes when entering a temple or a monument...but the floor in the memorial was so grimy....well, we were more than happy when we could clean our feet....to put it mildly...
