We were there last 2 weeks. They arrange the hotel car to pickup us in the airport. The room quality was good, we got the room with the view to the beach (special cottage). In the room is AC available and roof fan. The bathroom is European standard. They clean up the room everyday. The garden and environment on this hotel are neat and in good condition. The staff were friendly and polite. Just after we are arrived in this hotel we got an appointment 2hous later with the ayurvedic doctor and they analyzed our type, our health situation, the medicament which we have to take before/after food and we got our first ayurvedic treatment. The ayurvedic treatment was good and the therapist, Mr. Aneesh was active to give the information to the doctor so they can arrange the right treatment which fit to me. Since we are doing Ayurveda treatment we book full board room. The choice of the meal was more than enough and food quality were good. On every food the wrote down the food name and for which doshas. Unfortunately only Mr. Prasad always gaves us the information how we should eat and which combination shall we take to enjoy that meal since we are not friendly with indian vegetarian food this tips from Mr. Prasad was really helpful and we really enjoy to meet him on his duty. We wish that other personal are active to do this which very helpful for all the guest to enjoy every meals The captain on that restaurant, Mr. Ramesh were multi talent, he can speak many language and always helpful with our need. I have a problem with the electricity since there are again and again no electricity for around 1-5min and this always wake me up due to my breath device. After i complain to the reception they install for me small UPC device so didn't realize anymore while no electricity not available for 1-5min and i can sleeping through the night without being disturb when my breath machine not working. In this case i would like to say thank you for the management to arrange with this small upc device which help me to get my sleep quality in that hotel. I just have one problem when i tried to reach someone from room service, noone reachable on that number. When i take a contact with the reception the person on the reception only gave me the another numbers which 2 of them noone picked up the phone and the restaurant was busy all the time. The person on the reception decline to takes my request and he only says i have to order via room service or restaurnat and to lazy to received my request, not even tried to forward my call or find someone on the room service. At the end i have to go directly to the restaurant and do the complain directly to the hotel manager. There is a box for common tips in Restaurant and in the front office which we really hope that they give to all personals like someone who working in the garden or in the kitchen or those who clean up the therapy room. We are very sure that the restaurant, room service and therapist got enough tips from all the guest. If you want to do small tour you can order the car from the hotel or you can bargain the taxi in front of the hotel which much cheaper. If you are not sure how much it cost you can ask the hotel first how much to go somewhere and you can bargain with the taxi outside the hotel area. I am using all the time with the same taxi driver. At the end they bring us to the airport with very bad old taxi (not somatheeram car/taxi), small and dirty. In front of the hotels i can see another nice and good taxi available. All in all the performance on this hotel was very good and can be really excellent when they care many small things.

We stayed at the Somatheeram Manaltheeram resort for 3 weeks in last December. Having experienced a couple of Ayurveda resorts in Kerala and Germany before, we do regard the Ayurveda therapy practice at Somatheeram Manaltheeram resort as one of the best. In a nutshell what we loved about this resort? Competent male and female medical staff, graduated in western medicine and specialized in Ayurveda Ayurveda therapy with strong focus on Body and Soul Daily intensive four-hand massages and applications, lasting for two hours Excellent Yoga classes and early morning meditation with accomplished Yoga masters Overall friendly and charming atmosphere to enhance the well-feeling and relaxation after the intensive Ayurveda treatments Wide varieties of well tasting Ayurveda dishes for the Kappa, Pitta and Vatha patients. Comfortable and clean accommodation with natural and electric air ventilation The resort setting in a beautiful tropical garden located on a Tsunami-/Cyclone-safe rock plateau some 25m above the Arabic sea A constant fresh breeze from the sea for an agreeable climate Proper beach area with lifeguard and comfortable sun-chairs and shades Possibility to enjoy the facilities of the adjacent Somatheeram resort, too Short and easy transit from the airport after the long overnight flight from Europe The friendly and well organized resort and medical centre staff gave us always the feeling of an individual treatment despite some 100 guests/patients at times On the negative side there were a couple of issues that bothered a little: The entrance and bathroom door of our cottage # 533 were too low for my height (184 cm) which asked for constant attention to avoid a head-bang. The internet access often could not meet the high data demand of its guests. For some days too many short-stay guests - that lacked sincere interest in Ayurveda - disturbed the personal focus/attention on our physical and mental Ayurveda treatments. Some additional information for those interested in the Somatheeram Manaltheeram Ayurveda resort: The Somatheeram Manaltheeram resort is located directly on the Arabic sea some 30 minutes south of Trivandrum International Airport. Comprising some 60 Cottages and Kerala houses it is the smaller of the three Somatheeram Ayurveda Group Resorts/Clinics and surely the most beautiful among them, set in a spacious and sunny park with tall Palm trees, tropical flowers and a spectacular view of the Arabic sea with the resorts exclusive sandy beach, being well-guarded and properly cleaned. The Manaltheeram Ayurveda Medical Centre we rate one of the best with its team of more than eight competent medical doctors specialized in Ayurveda. Among them there are a couple of female doctors that personally take care of women. A fact which we found not common in many Ayurveda resorts and was well appreciated by my partner. During our daily consultations we learned to know almost all doctors, in particularly Dr. Hemalatha and Dr. Binu. There are some 70 therapist, i.e. two for each patient, who apply the four-hand massages and treatments, always two hours per day. As they are closely guided by the doctors we found them well trained and most sensitive and responsive to their patients particular conditions, requests and needs. The physical Ayurveda therapy was complemented mentally with a daily Yoga meditation hour in the early morning and triple Yoga classes for beginners, advanced and experts that were run by two experienced Yoga masters. We personally preferred Deepu Padmajan (Master of Yoga).

This is a wonderful retreat with caring therapists. It is such a pity that we happened to have people next to our cottage that persisted in smoking which really was most annoying. Rules should be followed and acted upon for the benefit of all. A no smoking hotel means NO SMOKING. but apparently this is not always the case

This is beach resort cum Ayurveda Hospital cum a retreat. The hammocks, the Yoga place, the greenery, the waves, the huge waves, the scary waves - this was an experience to cherish and learn from. Firstly this is Ayurveda hospital cum resort so expect to see people roaming around with bandages on their body. Also expect to see less Indians because the resort attracts plenty of Europeans for medical tourism who stay here for long periods for treatment. The staff very courteously walked us around the resort showing giving us details of the place. There are medicinal plants everywhere sans the hospital smell. It smells and feels so fresh in the Mornings. There are no AC rooms here atelast we didnt find one but the rooms are well ventilated and insulated and the greenery helps keep the temperature cool even in the summers. Did not try the massage but there are massage rooms overlooking the ocean for people who would like a massage with a view. The food options are very unique in a Ayurvedic and healthy way and we came across dished never heard of seen. There was continuous supply of herbal water and multitude of healthy juices to choose from. Breakfast was elaborate but again too healthy for our apetites and there are doctors monitoring diets of the patients. There are options of conventional food in the ala carte menu. The access to the beach was through a small water body that gets filled during high tide but that does not deter the beach goers from accessing the private beach.

A very well organised and efficiently run resort with focus on Ayurvedic treatment and diet. Though it was our first time, we met a lot of repeat customers, who testified to the effectiveness of the treatment. The food is all vegetarian, though eggs are available for breakfast. The location near the beach is an added attraction.
