What's Good: No TV (although it was there in their facility list) and the AC was switched off mid-night.

Situated alongside some of the very expensive resorts, this resort offers exactly the same view as its rich neigbours. Mind you, this is a no-frills resort, so one should not expect comforts and luxuries that are associated with star hotels. I stayed in a non-lake side facing room, but spent evenings and mornings on plastic chairs in the garden near the lakeside. Paid some 1600 rupees inclusive of taxes. Mr Salim Das who owns the resort is a warm individual and if you talk to him, he tells you what you can do around, apart from boating in the backwaters. He asked us to take a walk in the village nearby and it was one of the best experiences I had during my Kerala trip. Things that need improvement - 1. Sheets need to be cleaner. (note, bathrooms were sparkling clean) 2. AC did not work most of the time, even though I paid for an AC room. Could be because there was no electric supply(fan worked) 3. I was charged more than advertised rates on the menu card for using the restaurant

Stayed here for one night to attend a wedding nearby. The rooms were good as the management upgraded us to a lake view cottage. Food was excellent too. Very affordable rates for groups. Courteous staff too.

The most i like with this resort is the way they keep the bathroom neat. And the lake view from the resort is sceneric... had a greater experience. The kitchen service was good particularly the person who serve food and the chef was very kind. The price of food menu was touching rocket the management should consider reducing the cost of food...Outside this resort if u go n eat the price was normal.Every customer will always like to have dinner or breakfast watching the lake but they are not providing food service near the lake side if the customer member was more than 5 members...other than that room was good

Was a great experience. I stayed here for 3 days. Took a family cottage(2 interconnected rooms). Rooms were simple n tidy. It is located just besides vembanad lake. Other 4/5 star properties like Ripples/Taj/lake resort etc were on similar location(adjoining vembanad lake), parallel to our cottage. Food was also good. They had a north indian cook. Food had to be ordered 1 hour in advance. Owner was very cooperative. Had arranged a house boat and shikara ride for us at a very low cost. ( Ex. We got an offer for house boat - 6 hrs - 20k, cottage owner arranged for 2hrs - 3k). Overall it was a great experience. Basic rooms with basic facilities and great location.

Illikalam was great especially for the view of the Vembanad lake. Amazing views and bird sightings - a very relaxing experience. The food was made to order and was delicious. All items were upto a high standard and had a home cooked feel to it. Jamil was the cook and he did really well and was sensitive to our needs. The room and service was average unfortunately and there is definitely room for improvement with speed and efficiency of service and quality of the room. Overall View = great, Food= great, service and accommodation = average
