Kurseong is a splendid holiday destination nestling at an elevation of 1458 m in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal. It is strategically located at a distance of 30 km from Darjeeling and 50 from Siliguri, thus reaching to kurseong is an easy affair. The nearest airport is Bagdogra Airport, Siliguri and the nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri. Kurseong also falls in the Toy Train route of Darjeeling to New Jalpaiguri. The 'Toy Train' or the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway is a World Heritage Site and taking a ride in this train is one of the best aspects of Kurseong tourism. Derived from the Lepcha word 'Kharsang' which means 'Land of the White Orchids', Kurseong boasts of itself as the city that produces world's costliest tea.
One of the most fascinating places to visit in Kurseong is Eagle’s Craig, a view point on a cliff top. The view of the majestic mountain ranges, valleys and slopes along with the Teesta River, from the Eagle's Craig is truly a sight to behold. The Kholas Waterfall and the Deer Park are the ideal places for those who seek relaxation amidst the pristine nature. Tea gardens of Castleton, Makaibarie, Ambotia and Gomtee, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Museum and Chimney are some of the other Kurseong sightseeing places.
Kurseong also houses some of the highly revered religious sites. The Jagdish Temple, dedicated to Lord Jagannath, is one of the oldest temples located in this place. Other important temples places of religious importance include Giddapahar Durga Mata Mandir, Ambhotia Temple, Juma Mosque, Buddhist Gompa and St. Paulseak Church.
