Lachen is a bit remote location and doesn't have much number of hotels. Snow retreat is a small property located on a hill and hence has a number of stairs. The staff took our luggage to room. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We took heaters at an added cost of 300 per room as it was quite cold. The staff was very polite and the food served was also good. We went to Gurudongmar lake early morning and they made us tea coffee and also packed toast and hot water in a flask (no plastic allowed) for us for the journey. They ask your lunch and dining preferences beforehand and also are a bit rigid on timing but it's acceptable as the location has shortage of resources and they need to plan. The only glitch for us was that out of our 2 rooms, one bed was combination of 2 single beds and we had a bit of difficulty in sleeping.

Snow Retreat was shortlisted by our travel agency, the amenities are basic, and they are quite a stickler when it comes to food timings. The room was moderately clean and unfortunately, our geyser wasn't working. Otherwise, the service was prompt and our stay was comfortable.

Hi guys! Long time wanted to review the hotel.... This is a house converted to a hotel... Little better as lachen is completely remote.... Should cost you around INR 1000...(please do negotiate)... Mostly self service... Rooms are clean... Try taking the river view room... Trust me the sunrise will take your breadth away... Veg is wat they usually serve... Plz do ask for heaters...

You will only get basic facilities in here. View from the hotel was wonderful. We stayed there for a night. Behaviour of all stuff was good and friendly. Homely food which tasted good. Don't expect luxury facilities here as lachen is remote village of sikkim. Overall good experience.

We had booked this hotel based on the recommendation of a friend. It is also part of a chain that's why we had hopes from it. We reached Lachen around 730pm and it was raining that time. There was no electricity in Lachen when we reached. The hotel does not have a reception. You have to walk around 50 steps to reach the rooms. So when we reached we asked if they had a generator which they didn't have. We were anyways staying here for a night so we decided to adjust. The rooms were decent. Not too fancy. The toilets were clean. There were just the basic amenities that one would require for a one night stay. Some rooms did not have a TV. But the guy said he can set up a connection if the electricity comes. For dinner, these guys prepared basic veg food which consisted of roti, dal, rice, papad. It was decent. So they gave us candles because there was no electricity. In the morning we left for gurudongmar lake at 5 in the morning. They gave us breakfast for the trip ahead. That was one good thing of them. Overall it's a lodge rather than a hotel. You can stay here for a night max. Cheap rates on rooms.
