I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights across 10 days during a recent trip to Ladakh. At the front desk, Hitesh was extremely helpful, prompt and efficient. I stayed in 3 different rooms (223 and 224 on the 2nd floor and one on the first floor, 219 maybe). I found that the one furthest from the stairs on the first floor the most comfortably laid out (these are the pics I have attached with this review). The rooms have running hot water through the day and that is quite a big plus. The hotel is a short walking distance away from the main market square in Leh and that makes it very convenient for tourists and opens up a lot of options for lunch / dinner / coffee. Lunch / dinner at the hotel are simple Indian fares and thankfully not the usual greasy and heavy Indian food that is usually served at such places. While the hotel does have a wifi internet connection, the internet service in Leh is a hit-and-miss affair and more often than not it doesn't work. And when it does it crawls along breathlessly. At 11,500 feet it is not just we who feel the impact of lack of oxygen, it seems ;-) All rooms have a big LED TV and a set-top box. The only time I switched them on to catch some English news, I realised that almost all of the English news channels are now a premium service that normal subscribers do not have access to. When you basically come to Leh / Ladakh to run away from it all, why would you need things like cable TV and wifi anyways. Switch off the TV and mobile phones, walk around town and take in lots of fresh air, at this altitude you are going to need as much of O2 as you can.

I won't lie this hotels belongs to my friend. Having said there will no bias in my review I had been planning to visit the most beautiful place in north for some time but life happened . Finally I did and staying at this hotel accomplished the trip . Hats off to the service. Food. Arrangement in rooms. Warm water in restrooms, :P . Hotel staff make you feel welcomed and even guide you places to visit in Ladakh, best restaurants etc. In he end I would like to say if you want bang for the buck in Ladakh no other place like this one.

I don't know if people generally do this, but we went to Ladakh on a weekend trip on a whimsy almost. To be honest, the hotel was randomly selected as it fit our budget but what we got was a pretty decent stay at the hotel. Once we reached - Mr. Hitesh helped us with the acclimatization tips so that we get on our way ASAP and organized the rest of the trip pretty efficiently for us. The room we got was a neat and tidy room - with TV and a very comfy bed. There is central heating which works really well and running hot water in the rooms. The restaurant in the hotel offers pretty hearty food which at the end of tiring long days of travel feels pretty good. the main market is pretty easily accessible from the location of the hotel as well.

Our 4 day stay was made perfect by the absolutely hospitable staff. They took care of us right from the time we checked-in.The rooms are spacious and perfectly designed overlooking the scenic beauty of the place. Thanks to them and their acclimatization tips, we did not feel anything. The breakfast and dinner was mouth-watering. They constantly checked on the weather information at Pangong and Nubra and accordingly guided us where and where not to go. This will definitely be a place I will go back to!

They have the great staff and they know how to make a customer's stay memorable in their life by providing true value of customer service. On the other side room was very spacious and comfortable. The food was exceptionally good and the dessert was divine. They really provide great value for money. I could go on but suffice it to say I was very pleased with my stay, and although short and sweet this time, I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future. And I would also like to mention their manager's name Mr. Hitesh, who treat their customers just like his own family members. I was there on a bike trip to explore the Ladakh and Mr. Hitesh helped me like my elder brother. He guided me with a lot of things about my trip which really helped me. I have never seen such a professional person ever. The Hotel Himalaya Leh is very lucky to have a manager like him. Big Thumbs UP!!!!!
