Staff of hotel is really very good, and punctual about time also. Its not Starr hotel but really nice one. Manager Mr. shahid is also very good gays need little improvement in food. As someone else also pointed out here, we too faced issues with the Manager. We were a group of bikers from the South and stayed here after recommendation from a close friend - ample parking, lovely open 1st floor terrace area and good rooms. Just when everything was going on good for us, we got a call from the manager at 8pm saying we need to have our dinner immediately - we politely refused but the calls kept coming. Only when our close friend called up Sonam the owner did the matter get resolved. Shanti Stupa is a great walk (hundreds of steps but u will love it), the area is peaceful and you can take ample walks around - its safe due to army cantonment near by. On the whole, we recommend this place (its closed now for winters) but make sure you handle the manager properly (i hope Sonam jee is reading this review). Also wifi is weak here as compared to other hotels in main town area

We had 3 different bookings in this hotel as we were to go inbetween to Nubra and Pangong and stay there for a night each. I booked this hotel based purely on suggestions of friends and reviews of Tripadvisor, however I ultimately booked it via GoIbibo, as I got a pretty good discount there. The hotel itself is a lovely one. There is a first floor open terrace garden which offers lovely views of the surroundings. Though the hotel is understaffed, the staff is always there to help. There was this guy called KRISHNA who was simply amazing. He was always running here and there (Literally!) and there was always that smile on his face. We never met the owner Mr Sonam during our entire stay, but we had all our interactions with the manager, a Mr Gopal. And that is where everything was ruined. From the first day, Mr Gopal was behind us for arranging things. He offered to arrange for us a taxi for Nubra and Pangong, which we politely declined as we had already booked one. He then offered us to get our inner line permits through an agent. He told us that instead of going there and standing in the long line, it is better to get it done through an agent by paying Rs 250 per person extra. However we smelt something fishy and decided to get the permits ourselves the next day. And believe me, it took us 10 minutes. We saved almost Rs 500. Thereafter, on the day we were to leave for Nubra, our driver informed us that Khardungla would be closed the next day due to the Ladakh marathon, and hence we wouldn't be able to come back to Leh from Nubra. So he advised us to go directly to Pangong from Nubra, provided the hotel in Leh and the camp in pangong agreed to shift our dates. While the camp in pangong readily agreed, Mr Gopal made a fake calculation and told us that "Yes, we have 2 rooms empty. We will be able to accomodate you." However, When we returned from Pangong, Mr Gopal tells us, "Aaj ke liye aapka accomodation ho jaayega, par for the next 2 days, you will have to shift to the adjoining guest house". My wife and I refused to go there as we did not like that place too much. We told Mr Gopal that we have a confirmed booking of the next 2 days; how can you ask us to shift? To which he replied that "Hum ne aapka ek din ka adjust kar diya, toh aap bhi thoda sa adjust karlo. Agar aapko room change nahin karna hai, toh aap ko 1 din ka rent extra dena padega". Now this was totally unexpected. We hadnt stayed a single day extra in that hotel. We had just requested for an exchange of one day. And now this guy was asking for that exchanged day's money. Now Ladakh is a place where schedules change many times. Either due to bad weather, or due to local bandhs, marathons, etc. And most of the hotels happily allow change in the dates, as long as the total number of days remains same. But this hotel just refused to do that. And they had the audacity to tell us to pay after we returned from Nubra and pangong. They told us no such thing beforehand. I even talked to the owner Mr sonam but even he didnt seem interested in listening to me. I told him that the change in schedule was not due to my fault. It wasn't my fault that the marathon was happening. I even told him that all other hotels are flexible with dates when it comes to shifting your schedule a day ahead or back. Ultimately, we had no choice but to pay the extra rent. So basically, we stayed there for 5 nights and we paid for 6 nights. The hotel itself is very good. That is why we refused to shift to another guest house. We told them that we like your hotel, and thus we won't shift. However, we had to pay the price for liking their hotel more.
