This is a small little homestay in the Merak village away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist crowd.. Me and my sister stayed at this place in mid Sep for one night..It had a room with a view of the lake.. The entire homestay was home to us.. There was no one other than us.. The homestay family stayed in a seperate house close to the accomodation.. The lake was a mere 5 min walk.. We had dinner with the family and it felt very warm and homely.. The food is very basic and one cannot expect more out there.. They provide hot water in buckets.. They have a few rooms with attached bathrooms and one room with shared bathroom..The temperatures had started dipping in the night but the bedsheets ver very cozy...The place is apt for star/sky gazing coz the sky is very clear...Please acclimatize well beofre staying at pangong..

We visited in the first week of Oct 2018, 12 people. The village is almost 45mins drive from Spangmik. Even though the road is unpaved from spangmik to merak, it offers breathtaking views of the Pangong lake and the trail is really interesting treat for eyes. The lake is hardly few mins walk from the guest block and the view is brilliant, sans people like one sees at Spangmik. The owner of the homestay, Mr.Paljor, is the most amazing host one could ever meet. Extremely helpful and humble, kept inquiring about our status during the trip, made all arrangements for our stay to be comfortable. The guest block is few meters away from kitchen/his home and offers complete privacy for the visitors. The entire family puts in effort to make the experience for visitors quite memorable. And the dinner is the best one can hope to get. Simply delicious, served while hot and we ended up eating a little too much We truly felt part of the family during our stay, interacted with every member and enjoyed to our content. I recommend every visitor to experience the Peacefull homestay hospitality and make Pangong much more memorable.

It was an amazing experience to stay somewhere right in front of Pangong Lake with beautiful views of Himalayas. Owner Mr. Paalzor is very knowledgeable about the region and can guide you well. His place is nice, clean and very affordable. Highly recommended. Attaching pics I clicked during my visit in September 2018.

I got busy with work.. so coming back to write this review as the fond memory of this spectacular homestay still keeps me in awe!... :) I have traveled extensively both in India and the west.. but can guarantee to you that the sheer unspoiled beauty of the surroundings of this place will take your breath away.. The homestay is situated in a little village 'Merak' , some 20kms ahead of the 'touristy rut' and camps in Spangmik. The road between Spangmik and Merak is a unpaved one, so a bit bumpy , but treads along the edge of the lake so is a magnificent sight.. clear emerald blue water.. It will take roughly 30 mins to get to village Merak, you will cross the village of Mann on the way. Village Merak is right out of a storybook with around 10 tiny houses, 1 school and a monastery. If you are looking for a truly local , authentic experience and are a nature buff.. this homestay is sure to delight ! First the location ... You simply cannot ask for a more picturesque place to stay.. beautiful snow clad mountains behind the house while the majestic Lake is a only roughly 300 metres in front - a quick 3-4 min walk. The place is like a postcard.. unbelievably peaceful, with heavenly views. The owner Mr. Paljor is one of the most hospitable and kind people I have met. The facilities - There is house where Paljor's family stays, and a separate block in the back atop a small hillock, for the guests. The guest block is provided complete privacy from the owner's family. The guest block consists of a cozy living area - with a TV, lots of seating and a dining table, 2 small guest rooms with double beds and 1 bigger dormitory for upto 10-12 people (good for larger groups). Toilets are nice, clean and modern - no pit loos as some people may scare you. Paljor also offered to heat us warm water if we need, for bathing. The large window in the living area overlooks the serene lake. A note of caution - Pangong is at around 14000 ft hence you may experience lack of oxygen, especially at night. in case you are travelling with older people or anyone with breathing issues, I would recommend you carry some oxygen cans- available in Leh. The place is hours away from any medical assistance. Now some good stuff - The food - we asked for maggi, omelettes, tea and were obliged with a smile, The dinner was really amazing - simple, tasty home cooked meals - dal, rice, roti, sabzi etc.. Overall food quality is good and hygienic. Finally the people - I honestly am short of words to describe the innocence, warmth and soulfulness of this cute family. As soon as we reach we had 4-5 small cute village kids flocking around and peeping into our room with curiosity .. They made our stay so much fun, took us to the lake, played with us, sang with us.. :p kinda crazy but for a while we bacame kids with them. There was a cute grandma and grandpa.. who kept asking us if we need something.. Paljor and his wife greeted us with smiles and looked after us with such care that we actually ended up feeling a part of their home.It was really tough leaving back to Leh next morning.. we didn't want to go.. So if you are looking for sheer bliss, unwinding to simplicity and looking to rejuvenate and find your lost self again.. Come Here!, you will not be disappointed...

We were planning to Pangong Tso to Tso Moriri trip. I wanted to stay at Merak. I got this place's number from google. I called up his owner at booked the stay. He was very responsive on phone. Here is our experience at Peacefull Homestay. "Peaceful Home Stay was basic but clean and comfortable. They had two double-bed rooms with attached bathroom and one 5-bed room. The owner was friendly and co-operative. He allowed us to use any of the rooms. Each of us occupied separate rooms. We got freshened up. Meanwhile, our Maggi was ready. It was very cold and windy outside of the rooms. However, we didn't want to get away from Pangong Lake. We asked the owner to arrange a table outside of rooms. Lake was at a walking distance from our home(stay). We went to meet the lake. We came back to our home(stay). I visited the owner's family. As per owner, whenever they have a guest at their homestay, it is always a celebration for them. I asked do they prepare different food for guest. He said they eat same food made for the guests. I invited owner and his family to have dinner with us. At night, Owner, his two kid and his caretaker joined us for dinner. We spent more than two hours talking with them. I discussed the road status of Merak to Korzok with the owner. He gave me some useful tips for next day's drive. We had some amazing time with totally strange people. Merak was very cold but our rooms were warm. Each of us enjoyed separate rooms and had sound sleep. We woke up at 6.30. Homestay owner packed breakfast for us. The entire family came to say goodbye to us. I went to homestay owner and promised him that I"ll come again. He asked me to come during winter to see white Pangong." Overall we enjoyed this place and amazing hospitality of the owner. The beds are cosy and comfortable. Rooms are unbelievably warm. As far as I know, they don't have any heater in their rooms. Merak village has two or three homestay options. However, peaceful homestay is the best. People going to Tso Moriri should stay at Merak instead of staying at Spangmik.
