  • Call the hotel to confirm your booking!!!

    Worst experience I ever had with the hotel staff. Especially the manager at reception. Not at all courteous and unsympathetic. We had booked this hotel through makemytrip for a planned holiday with my elderly parents and a small kid, well well in advance. We were even charged full amount just before the actual check-in dates. But when we reached hotel, they had no information of our booking and denied us stay saying they are fully booked. It was a very frustrating, humiliating and discriminatory behavior from hotel and specifically Mr. A (front office manager). First of all, this guy was not willing to accept that it was mistake on their side that they missed out on our booking. He was insistent that it is some system error and not their fault!!! This person had a smirk on his face all the time talking to us! It was as if - oh go to hell and do whatever you want to do! There were lot of EU passports lying on the front desk of hotel reception. And we saw lot of foreign tourist. I have a strong suspicion that our booking was purposely overlooked to accommodate this foreign group. Ofcourse I do not have any proof but you get this feeling when you are in such situation which is true but can't be proved. Only when I showed this Mr. A our EU passport (we are naturalized EU citizens) did I see some slight change in his behavior but not enough i guess to accommodate us. Mr. A tried to "show" some consideration by offering us complimentary dinner and spa but it was not at all possible to accept these offers which he clearly knew as well. We had traveled more 5 hours by road from Kanyakumari to Madurai on 4th Nov 2019 and reached around 8:30 pm. We had 2 senior citizen and a kid, who were tired and exhausted after all sightseeing in morning and travel in afternoon. Considering all this, how can we take dinner before getting fresh and shower?! This was clearly told to Mr. A, the manager at reception in Fortune Pandiyan. Regarding SPA, we have clearly told this person Mr. A about our travel/flight plans and that we can't take any appointment after 11. We specifically requested him to provide us with SPA at or before 11 am max. But this person calls us late in morning next day around 9:30 and 10 am and tells us exactly what we didn't want to hear. That he can give us appointment at 11:30am! Finally I would like to say, just call this hotel before your actual check-in date to avoid ending in situation like us. Though with all such technology and online booking convenience one is not expected to but this is a lesson learnt hard way!

    I travel frequently to Madurai and I have to say that this place never disappoint me. The entire hotel staff are much courteous and polite. The warmth I feel every time I meet them is outstanding. Special thanks to Ms. Rakhi & Mr. K Manivannan for amazing customer service and gesture, every time the shows to me. I definitely recommend this hotel and give a gold star to the amazing staff for there amazing customer service.

    This used to be Pandiyan hotel, the bustling hotel for business travellers a decade or more ago. It has changed to Fortune brand since but much hasnt changed. The lobby is long and unimpressive, staff is clearly not trained to dive star service levels, the carpets are musty and there is a strange strong, sweet floor cleaner smell that pervades and overpowers your experience On the positive side, i ordered room service and the food was reasonably priced and good. Even the minibar stocked alcohol at MRP - another first

    I planned for a surprise b'day event for my cousin who was visiting Madurai. This was made possible with the efforts of Mr. Chandra Mohan, Mr. Karthik & Mr. Arun from the F&B team of the hotel. Thank you all of your support to make it happen!!!

    Good rooms, with all facilities like tea-coffee, complimentary seasonal cut fruits on request and free wi-fi. The breakfast has options of veg/non-veg, continental/south Indian food delicacies like fresh dosas and idlis. Some interesting drinks like methi-water and ghia-infused water too, along with shakes and lassi. For Lunch/Dinner, their subz biryani is a must try. very tasty. Nothing much with regards to sweet dishes. Room service is very prompt. Cleanliness is maintained. The staff is pleasing and attends to your needs with a smile. Thank you Fortune Pandiyan.
