Nice hotel, has some part of beach which is safe. Gave us grace time or check out and reception desk is supportive.. One issue is , we have to ask them for each accessory like dental kit, bathroom kit.

    Poor!

    by Ben on 02-03-2015

Fairly average hotel that is completely underutilizing the potential of the property. It is based on a beautiful beach but has absolutely no beach activities. No food or drinks served on the beach and not even a deck chair. It has a great pool but if I wanted a pool, I need not have travelled to Mahabalipuram.

Stray dogs are moving around in plenty in the resort and follow you every where. Drainage block observed and reported no action taken. No news paper given in the rooms. Excellent location and lots of space under utilised

  • A MEMOREABLE FAMILY STAY A SURE RETURN

    by VS_Pillai on May 21, 2017

Hi folks, I am back with a review of a memorable stay at Chariot Beach Resort with my family. The booking was easy online. We were greeted with garlands of sea shells and registration was not too long. We were shuttled to the room(I took a Sea View Cottage) via a buggy. The room is spacious for a family of 4 with twin queen beds. Amenities are sufficient in the room. The weather is hot at this time so breeze is kind of hot but the sea waves sound is soothing. The cottage is near to the seafood restaurant which is also beside a spa. The spa has treatment for men and women, I would recommend the head and shoulder massage especially for the those who are here for a relaxing week after the hustle and bustle of the office life. The hotel has a pool that is for kids and to caters for the experts as well. I loved the vegetarian meals especially the Veg Briyani, Veg noodle, mixed vegetables and papad for south and north pallets. The non veg will enjoy the seafood and the chicken, the chef catered for my kids reducing the spicy level to almost nil. My mom also does not take spicy meals the veg gravies were good not too spicy. Kids enjoyed the fried chicken and fish as well. Kudos to the F & B team(Mr.Chancal), they are very attentive and does exceptional service. The hotel is walking distance to Sea Shell Museum, the Five Rathas, Arjunas penance, The Shore temple, and all the other historic sites. For those living in chennai, drive here so you have your car with you. Others best rent a vehicle so you have freedom of movement with your family. For foreigners, just walk along the beach you will reach the shore temple, or take a taxi to the town then onwards walk to the sites all within a radius of 5km. The hotel also gave my kids a custom made conch with their names printed on it. They send the buggy to your room as the Sea View cottage are a little distance from the lobby. Overall the Hotel is a value for money and also the services commendable. Operations Director was present to greet us, she is a very pleasant person worth mentioning from me as I have been to dozens of hotels being a Hotel Concessioner I know the attitudes of the top management of hotels well. They have a bar that caters for non alcoholic drinks as well. I will certainly be back here for my next trip to Mahabalipuram, as there are many sculptures we missed. Get yourself a book written by Srinivas-J.Prabhakar, a Guide book which details out the location of all the sculptures.

  • Pampered and spoiled..

    by chrisjohnson_do40 on May 20, 2017

I arrived in Chennai around 1300 hrs and the weather was horrendous. Extremely hot and humid. The resort had sent a shuttle to the airport and the driver was extremely nice but a huge language barrier. The resort gave me a extremely Hawaiian welcome with sea shells and a coconut drink which was extremely refreshing. The room was extremely big and spacious though had a musty smell. Upon informing to Ms Moumita at the reception, they did change my room to a better one. View of the sea is bang on from the living area. The food wasnt something to brag about but the portions were generous but a tad bit spicy. I did have a lovely time in the pool in the evening but was disappointed that they close the pool by 7pm. Special thanks to the lady at the spa whose name I dont recall for a rejuvenating massage. I did leave a box of goodies for her in the suite and hopefully she received it. A good stay overall but room for improvement in the food section.

  • Great place to stay with family

    by Rav V on May 15, 2017

I had a very enjoyable and relaxing mid-week retreat with family. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by staff with refreshing cool fruit juices and shell necklaces were placed around our necks - really great souvenirs for us to take home. We were promptly taken to our cottages in an electric buggy and shown the facilities within the room. The room was very clean, spacious and smelled fresh. It had a seating area, dining area, huge bed, TV with Tata Sky Channels, minibar, cupboard for clothing, an ironing board, hair dryer, great WIFI connectivity and en suite bathroom. The en suite bathroom on its own was very spacious and comfortable to use. The room was air conditioned and despite the room being so big the air conditioner was easily able to maintain the set temperature. Outside the cottage there was a generous porch with seating and a private garden looking out directly to a beach and sea view. We were provided with complementary bicycles so we could enjoy a bike ride around the resort and easily explore the grounds at our leisure which we thoroughly enjoyed - especially at night as the resort is well lit and looks very pretty. There is a very large pool which is well looked after and is quite a bit larger than the pools of other resorts. The resort conveniently has its own private beach with plenty of shaded seating areas to sit and enjoy the view and invigorating sea breeze. The beach was beautiful, quiet and peaceful with the resorts well maintained greenery (trees, plants and lawns) complementing the beauty of it all. We ate in the main restaurant of the resort which overlooks some well maintained gardens. The food from breakfast to dinner was delicious and the desserts were beautifully presented. The staff in the resort were very attentive and helpful throughout our stay and I am thankful to them for their first class hospitality and making our stay so comfortable. There were other activities available at the resort which included a tennis court, pottery making and an adventure sports playground with various challenges such as climbing and zip wire, with specially trained instructors on hand for every activity. There is something for everyone here within the resort itself and the resort is also very close to all the important historical monuments of Mahaballipuram. The whole family thoroughly enjoyed the stay and we look forward to visiting again in the near future.

  • Great & getting even better!

by PresleyDude on May 10, 2017

We stayed in a cottage close to the beach. Very spacious, immaculate, modern, perfectly painted & beautifully quiet . The resort has obviously been taken over in the last year by someone who has being improving it massively & management seem keen to really make it perfect . They are almost there! The bar was great and the only thing that really would make the resort fantastic is if a bit of work was done to the seashore restaurant . I think that they are working their way down the resort with improvements so hopefully it'll be charmed up with proper (not so harsh) lighting, a menu on a blackboard ,lighter furniture etc. the next time we visit. Many Thanks in particular to Vijay in the bar & seashore restaurant & Kumeravel for zipping us around in the golf buggy! Very fond memories & looking forward to returning !

  • Location great

    by sara053 on May 5, 2017

We reached Mahabalipuram late afternoon and need to leave next morning. So chose the resort because it's located near main attractions. Food is good. Rooms are clean and well kept. Pool is big in size. But they close pool early so my son was disappointed. No staff to look after pool .no food joints nearby .unless u have private car,u have to take lunch, dinner there only. Overall value for money.
