What's Good: Nothing
What needs to improve : Everything
Reason For Rating : This hotel is built in very small plot and to build more and more rooms ,they are very congested ,not more then 10 sqmt , owner is living in same place with family and only 1 room boy named reyan is working for all guest . owner, receptionist are given more and extra attention to foreniers , doors, bed, mattress, pillow all are very old , bathroom fittings are rusty and hotel is having solar geisur so no hot water till first half.i am very disappointed.

What's Good: location
What needs to improve : unprofessional behavior, don-care attitude.
Reason For Rating : Though we reached around 4 pm on 26th and had called the hotel two times to inform our late check-in, the rooms weren't ready. We were asked to adjust with store room kind of rooms. We were told that since they were experiencing high volume of customers, they can't do anything about this and we may cancel the booking if we wish to. We felt like cheated.

Had a bad experience here. I had booked it through make my trip, by believing the photos shown and the ratings they provided. It's an old hotel modified. Bathroom is not clean, uninterrupted water supply is not there. Old air conditioner. Waste of money. Truly unprofessional

Nice location , near to beach and restaurants. took a bike on rent and can visit the places at your own. Near to all attractions. Rooms are basic/budget, but good location and stuffs are helpful. Visited with family and enjoyed.

Old building renovated and added with EWC, LCD TV and A/C. Smelly place. OK for tourists whose intention is on budget and close to sea, sights and food. Restaurant at hotel is not good. Carry your own drinking water and food from outside. Very close to many sightseeing areas and sea breeze is good.

My overall experience of this place was disappointing. And I am sorry to be blunt because I think there are good things too, but all of that is overshadowed by shoddy, below average services. As a budget traveler, I don't expect any especial hospitality or luxury, but once payment has been made (through MakeMyTrip), one at least expects some basic responsibility from the host. Read on. When I called the owner Vinod two days before my arrival (to remind him of my MMYT booking), he assured me the availability of a Non AC room. Vinod, is amiable but also quite irresponsible. When I arrived there, everyone including Vinod acted like they didn't expect me, and were wondering where to accommodate me! Having made the MMyT booking two months back, this sort of reception was a shocker. But I realized they are functioning on a first-come-first-serve basis in which case the online booking services such as MMyT need to stop entertaining such hotels. Soon, Vinod took me to a "temporary" room on the second floor assuring me that I will be provided a proper room by the evening when someone leaves. The bed in this "temporary" room was quite uncomfortable and I had to wait for an hour before I could take a bath because there was no water in the showers and faucets, as the water tanks were refilling. The positive was that both the toilet and room were clean enough to be habitable. I wonder how many others are shifted into this "temporary" room? At night, I went and checked the room I was to be shifted to and was further disappointed. This room was claustrophobic with a tiny toilet and the sham windows covered a shaft or wall, I don't quite remember. I went back and complained about the quality, and to his credit, Vinod heard me out but said I will need to wait till one of the occupants in another room moved out. That happened a couple of hours later. This next room looked perfect by budget standards, even had windows on one side - everything functioning seemingly well, and I hoped I could finally settle in. Now, on February nights, Mamallapuram gets quite chilly, and I only got wind of that deep in my sleep at 1 am when I woke up freezing. I searched around for a blanket but found none. So, I barely slept the rest of the night. Sometime in the dark, I ambled into the toilet, took a leak and flushed, and surprise, surprise - the pipe from the flush tank came lose and water spilled all over the floor! I had to use the bucket instead for the whole next day: In the morning, I looked around for someone to call for help but found no one. Then I had to hurry out for sightseeing which was a wonderful experience! On my return at afternoon, I still failed to find anyone to help. I went out again in a few hours to cover the rest of the rock temples, and returned by the evening. When I finally found Vinod and complained about the lack of a basic blanket and the leaky flush-tank, he tells me, "why didn't you just come out at night and call for a blanket?" Meaning what? Is that an excuse for not providing your guests with blankets in the first place? Why do I have to ask for the obvious? Blankets, soaps and towels and provided in every budget hotel. Anyway, a helper soon got a blanket. As for the flush-tank pipe leak which evidently was always "temporarily fixed" by pushing the pipe into the commode, the helper that Vinod assigned for the task told me he'll be back with someone but never returned. Late into the night, when I queried as to why he didn't return, he told me the plumber can only arrive in the morning. He could have at least again "temporarily fixed" the flush pipe with a rope or m-seal to hold it in place for a night but even that wasn't done, though I specifically made the request. Even next morning, no one came. My guess is, no one bothered because I was to check out later that day. From this shoddy hospitality (even by budget-hotel standards), I can summarize it is very convenient for hotels in tourist hot-spots like Mamallapuram to forget basic courtesy to customers that have made the full payment, because they will never be short of visitors walking in anyway, especially foreigners with more power in their currency. Its sad, because with a little tweaking in their habits, this hotel could easily be 4 stars by budget hotel standards. Rated: 2/5

Sea view only from the rooftop but well situated, near the main walking road. Not good WiFi but clean and cheap. Nice people. You can pay by card. And they have a Laundry service. Your clothes are ready in 1 day
