We visited Maheshwar for a day and booked ourselves at Hotel Ashray for night stay. You enter Maheshwar and just as you pass the fort gate, this hotel welcomes you. It's a quaint little 3 storey hotel overlooking a school ground. Neat. Clean and quick in service. We got a room wth a sit out common balcony, where they serve u food. They don't have a in house restaurant but they can order food as per your choice from a nearby restaurant. The Ahilya fort, ghat and palace are all within walking distance of this hotel. A good economical place to stay at Maheshwar. There is a typical Chai ki tapari below the hotel, go there for your cup of tea with a yummy plate of poha. However a couple staying with us complained of bed bugs in their room, they promptly gave them another room.

This is my 2nd visit to Maheshwar and I have stayed in Hotel Ashray . The location is very good -inside the fort . Adjoining to Narmada ghat and Devi Ahilya s Palace. The hosts are very nice and warm . Maheshwar as a place is like a place where life pauses for while . Away from hustles and bustles of life .

We stayed at Hotel Ashray for 3 nights in December 2015. We found the place amazing, its a tiny little place done up very aesthetically with a home-away-from-home feeling. The hosts are amazing and super helpful. If you are not a luxury traveller and look forward to connecting with local people and knowing the stories of the place, this is the perfect place to be. The hosts helped us arrange for a cab to Mandu and a drop at the bus station. It was also a very good experience with the cab owner. Though the rooms weren't luxurious, but they had almost everything that you would need for a comfortable stay and was very nicely done up. Our room was on the ground floor and the window on the backside opened up to a local school and a temple at the backdrop. Its a stone's throw distance from the Ahalya fort and Narmada river. I would highly recommend this place if you are planning to visit Maheshwar. We would definitely stay here everytime we visit. Many thanks to everyone at the hotel for the wonderful time and for being so kind. Best, Shweta

Hotel Ashray is located inside the fort, just a few minutes walk from the Palace and the Ghats. Laboos Cafe is just across the street and there is a chai stall out the front. It's a modern hotel but the rooms are rather dark, although there is a nice place to sit on the third floor. The rooms are clean enough but the walls are marked and the bathrooms could do with a bit of a polish. There are flat screen TVs and WiFi at reception. The staff members are very pleasant. This hotel is fine for solo female travellers.

We booked over phone and the room was clean and fine. Bathroom is ok. Room and bathroom were not spacious, but manageable. AC was working fine. Hot water is also available. Room service is available. Laboo's cafe is just opposite only. Ahilya Fort and temple is around 100 metres. Wi-fi is available and was working fine. Overall a decent and budget place to explore Maheshwar.
