It was a one night stay, but memories forever. We booked online two rooms for me and my friend's family. We knew WBTDC always has the best locations at any place. Didn't disappoint here, excellent view of the waterfront and dotted with islands, rembrance of Andamans. Rooms were nice and clean. Mr S Dutta with his staff were very supportive and provided lovely service with smiles. Food here is just what you need. Surrounding scenic beauty is marvelous, definitely recommend a two nights stay to cover every spot. Natural beauty of the place and hospitality of WBTDC tourist lodge won't disappoint visitors.

This lodge run by WBTDC is located at the top of a hillock and is a 45 minutes drive from Asansol railway station. 1. The rooms in the first floor are undoubtedly better and Room No 7 is probably the best. I feel that these rooms are better than the cottages since there is a huge balcony in front of them. It will be advisable to contact the manager in advance to stay at the rooms in first floor ( Room 5, 6,7). The balcony is provided with sofas and the view from the balcony is something you will remember for quite some time. 2. The rooms are moderately decorated and the AC working properly. The attached baths (western style) are also clean enough. 3. The staffs are very well behaved, particularly the manager and he takes a fair amount of load himself. 4. The property is a 10 minutes uphill walk from the bazaar area, where the DVC lodge is located. In my openion, the location of this WBTDC property is much better than that of DVC if you want to rest in a tranquil place with lots of greenaries all around. 5. The lodge is about 5 Km distance from the famous Kaylaneshwari Mandir and the manager will arrange auto for you @ Rs 200 for up and down trip. 6. The food provided in typically Bhat/Roti, Dal, Aloo posto, mixed veg, chutney etc. They are tasty and we didn't have any problem. One should note that it is a remote area and you cannot expect a large varieties of food.

We stayed for 1 night. Pros: Good behaviour by manager and staff. Good view from common balcony , which has fans, good sofa very comfortable. Second floor balcony has slightly better view but u cannot chooose that during booking. Transport can be arranged by hotel. You can go to boating point by walking distance from lodge. Cons Food quality is not great. But palatable. Worth a stay

In comparison to west bengal this place is really too good location wise scenic beauty per se. Peaceful, calm ,quite close to nature .Travellers in and around West Bengal must visit once.In order to enjoy the place one must stay in Maithan tourist lodge.

We were four girls who went on a road trip to Maithon during the Xmas weekend . Although we wanted to book DVC guest house for its superb location but we were equally thrilled to see how tastefully n well maintained is this govt run resort . Coming back to its review - well maintained property run by govt rooms ranging from 1800 plus taxes are decently priced . First floor rooms have better view but also one can get the views from ground floor rooms as there is a large sprawling lawn in front of it . Food is quite average and nothing exotic and the quantity is very less so mind u while placing order accordingly. There are quite strict with check out n check in rules ( may be because of high season demand) over all I had an excellent stay as the view from my room was to die for .
