Malshej Ghat has only 2 resorts- MTDC (earlier Flamingo resort) and Sushant Resort which atleast look good from outside while the rest are all crap. Without an advance booking it is impossible to find a room in both these resorts because of acute shortage of rooms. Therefore book your tickets well in advance specially during the monsoon period. We visited the ghats during september which is the perfect time to visit the place but without no advance bookings we had some difficulty in finding a room. Finally our search ended at Sushant Resort. The location of this resort is quite picturesque and is located adjacent to the Pimpalgaon Joga dam which is a common shooting destination. We were lucky enough to see a Ad shoot there. The dam is a real scenic beauty to watch at different times of the day and being so close to the resort, it becomes a major plus point. MTDC resort on the contrary is located on hilltop and gives you a view of the magnificient ghats, good food and uninterrupted winds. Both the places are uniquely located and deserve a one time experience. Now let me tell you about the dissapointments of our stay at Sushant resort. Firstly the room that we got was a deluxe room under renovation for which they charged us 6k/-. When we asked them about the exhorbitant price they just replied that as the room was under renovation they were offering us at a lesser price otherwise the rates would have been higher. With nowhere else to go and no other choice we had to move into the resort. The room was dusty and damp, you could actually feel the dust on their sofas. The bedsheets and towels were unclean and had stains on them. The worst part came when we saw the toilet. When one of my friends was just coming out of the toilet after using the commode, a big rat jumped out of the commode. The boy was scared to death. We called the hotel manager who just came and and asked us, Kaha hai chuha? who by then had dissapeared into darkness. The experience was enough to scare all off us and we had a hard time using the commode for the rest of the stay. Also, never book food in advanceat Sushant resort. It has poor eating facilities that are time bound. Morning breakfast and tea is not available in their restaurant and you have to use the road side tea and wada pav shop that is adjacent to the resort. The passage to the dining hall is pathetic and you only find smelly things all over. Just a few minutes from the resort there is a small roadside dhaba that has better food than Sushant. We had our food here itself for the entire stay. In all Sushant resort is not worth an experience to say the least but it is still better in a place that has limited options. If you keep yourself busy enjoying the ghats and maybe take a trip to Shivneri fort, Girijatmaj ashtavinayak temple and enjoy the countless waterfalls(all of which are a must visit) than the resort part will wither off. Happy staying!!

Hi All, If you have booked the Room in advance remember that you cant check in before 12 PM, even if you land at 10 morning. As we have experienced this, Also the food buffet what they serve is too bad, we were 10 ppl out of which 7 ppl had a bad stomach after we had lunch, this spoiled our plan. Its better to have food from outside rather having it at Shushant Resort. If you are late at the buffet counter you need to strave yourself. Overall i can say its expensive for the service what they are giving.

We revisited Malshej because we find it among the most beautiful places in Maharashtra in the monsoons. But our weekend trip was completely spoiled by the condition of the resort. They charge Rs. 5000 per day (inclusive of meals). But the linen was stained - both the bedsheets and pillow covers. The towels had yellow stains over it. We demanded everything to be changed, but we found they didn't have any clean (unstained linen). Worse, we had to ASK them to get the toilet cleaned since it hadn't been cleaned from the previous stay. The toilet had cobwebs. The food was cooked in bad oil so it gave off a distasteful smell. The entry into the dining room was through a dirty passage piled with mattresses. One the first day itself, a vegetable dish was stale, so we had to throw it away. We were so stressed out complaining and demanding better service - I'd advise anyone else against every booking a stay here.

We booked this hotel through internet. the rooms were good but not well maintained. Small play area for kids. Food was pathetic. Stale food was served. Evening snacks and morning break fast was same apart from omlets & stale bread slices, only wada pav & missal pav were served. In main course there were hardly any varity served, food also spicy for the kids. Only Tea was served no coffee either. Experience was not good though expectations were high. And as it didnt rain so fun of being in malshej ghat.
