Mandavi is a city on the coastal belt of India which reflects the true colours of Gujarat. It is situated towards the open end of the Gulf of Kachchh and is at a distance of around 60 km from Bhuj. The city once served as a summer retreat for the King of Kachchh. Impressed by the cultural grandeur and scenic beauty of the city, many travellers from all over India often go on a Mandavi tour. Apart from tourism, the city's economy relies largely on various small-scale industries.
In earlier times, the city was surrounded by a fort, ruins of which can still be seen. There are many other Mandavi tourist places thronged by numerous visitors. The majestic Vijay Vilas Palace is the primary attraction in this city which was built between the years 1920 and 1929. Tourists can get to see exquisite carvings and coloured glass work in the building. It displays excellence of Rajputs in architecture and is the place of residence of the royal family of the princely state of Kachchh. In addition, the Mandavi Beach is an excellent location for tourists to relax on the seaside.
Other places of interest for tourists include Mazar-e-Noorani, Swaminarayan Temple and the Topansar Lake. Tourists can also visit the 400-year-old ship building centre where small ships are still manufactured. Few other attractions in and around Mandavi which travellers can visit during their stay here are Kasi Vishvanath Beach, Kranti Tirth, Shyamji Krishna Varma Smarak, Rukmavati Bridge and Talav Gate.
In the list of things to do in Mandavi, shopping ranks high. The city is famous for the production of Bandhani, a kind of tie-dye, which is available in various local markets. There are many other items native to Gujarat which tourists can take home like cotton products, snacks, etc.
