We needed a place to crash at Mandi as we were stuck in a landslide near Aut. The hotel staff at night mentioned a certain price for the room and during check out in the morning quickly changed and mentioned another price. This was a bit shocking. The breakfast was extremely salty. This is a decent property for a stop over or to break your journey and replenish supplies in Mandi. I recommend it, but keep an eye out on the room rates and final invoices.

Leaving Delhi late in the evening, I usually end up reaching Mandi by breakfast time. This place has become my regular breakfast spot everytime I make the journey to Manali.! This place hooked me up with their cheese cutlets and it keeps me coming back for more. This time around we had a splendid spread of pakodas, cutlets, massive chana bhatooras and poori bhaji accompanied with fresh juices and cold coffees. They have a place next to the river which doubles up as a good place to soak up the sun. A must stop!

Driving to Manali from Delhi? Starting in the morning and looking for a night halt on the way? If yes, Visco is your best bet. You dont want to leave too much travel for day 2 and staying at Chandigarh or Bilaspur is advisable only if you have started late (say afternoon). We stopped at Chandigarh on the way back. The food was great at Visco Resort and the staff was very helpful. The river shown in the hotel pictures hardly feels like a river but the view of the hills from the room is good and they have a lot of open green space for kids to run around. There is also an option to order food while sitting in one of the open greens at two levels. The room quality was average. Bathrooms were clean but again average. Sighting a small, lazy cockroach in the bathroom on the day of departure put me off. The hotel needs to do a better job at pest control. All in all, if you are one of those who wants to travel with family and do not want to be declared dead on arrival after a 14-16 hours drive including breaks, Visco is the best option available. I will go with 3/5 for this hotel.

The hotel is just on the outside of Mandi. Our welcome by reception staff at the resort was cool enough to be considered unfriendly and not what I would have expected from an organisation that uses the motto By the grace of Sri Satguru ji. It was not a good start but we decided to stay one night as we were tired. Our room furnishings were tired, too and the AC could only be operated by the main switch on the wall, under a desk, down near the floor. The almari was stuffed full of extra bedding with no room to hang clothes but In the bathroom there was hot water and sufficient ventilation. Workers were painting the walls of the stairwell in the small block of rooms as we arrived there. Sitting on the small, river facing balcony outside our room as the sun went down was a very pleasant experience. Food in the restaurant was only average and the menu limited. Check out was as cool an experience as check in and left me feeling that I would not like to return.

It's a very well located property on Mandi Road offering a nice view of the river. The property is large and very well laid out too. But unfortunately everything else about this hotel is abysmal. In spite of being a well laid out property it looks worn out because of poor maintenance. Rooms are reasonably spacious but not well appointed. The beds and mattresses, in particular, were of really substandard quality. You would find a better bed in any cheap hotel. The food was average and the staffs were somewhat indifferent. They have a nice lawn overlooking the river where you can have your breakfast and probably spend some time in the evening. Overall, I would say it's definitely not value for money.
