It lived up to its other bad reviews on Trip Advisor. Sheets and pillows don't look like they had been washed and changed. Bathroom smelt of urine. Commode had visible spots on it showing sloppy washing. They start playing loud music in the corridors - loud enough to wake you up, at 7am. They didn't know what giving tea separately meant (hot water, milk, sugar and tea bags separate). They just brought hot milk and tea bags and sugar, no water. When we asked them to bring hot water, they brought it in a plastic Bisleri bottle which melted out of shape because of the heat. There are large photo-posters of the owners hanging all over the place like they are Gods. People are ok but seem to know nothing about what it means to run a quality establishment. The charge - FOUR THOUSAND RUPEES PER NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is ridiculous, ludicrous and any other such word you can think of. Avoid, avoid, avoid. I doubt if anything else in Mandu will be that much better. Just go for a day trip to Mandu from Indore.

Hotel Royal Palace, Mandu is an average hotel and so do not expect anything great. It is basic survival. Since we could not get reservations at the Malwa Resort and Malwa Retreat, we were compelled to book at this hotel. Room are just basic, with an average level of cleanliness. Even though we stayed for 2 nights, there was no house-keeping done. On the plus side, food was good and staff courteous. Other than that - all other points were on the negative side. Infact, we had to ask the hotel to change our room after the 1st night since the TV was not working, the geyser switch was in the adjoining room (still trying to figure out, why on heaven would someone plan geyser switch in the next room ... do they expect us to befriend "neighbours" so that they allow us to switch on/off the geyser), main door latch was broken and bed was a "musical" bed - kept making awkward and spooky creaking sound through-out the night. They also provide free "music", as it kept blaring on their ceiling speakers installed in the corridors at all odd hours. I would tend to believe that the owner or the manager is a big fan of old bollywood songs ... but not everyone is.

When we checked in, it was quiet, but at 10 pm the hammering started. We complained the first time at 11 pm that we booked the room to sleep, which was impossible. At 2 am in the morning, hammering still went on. We complained a second time and were told that nightworking was goin on. After long discussions, hammering stopped, but than the telephone in our room was ringing the whole time. In the moring we complained to the owner of the hotel which listend to us and went away whitout saying one word. We were asked to pay in advance what we unfortunately did, otherwise we would not have payed the room.

We stayed at this hotel as no other accommodation was available in Mandu. The hotel was having clean rooms. But it is somewhat overpriced. Parking is available, but it is limited to 3-4 cars or so you might not get a place to park and have to park on the road.
