The worst resort in Mangalore.. We checked in to River roost resort on 21st Feb 2020, Friday afternoon. It was a day out for my family after a long time and we wanted to relax n have fun. We were 5 adults and 1 child so we took 1 Deluxe wood cabin and 1 Premium Deluxe room.. After checkin, we went to have lunch at the restaurant and saw multiple groups of people of more than 80 ppl hanging out there..almost 30 people in the pool and 25 in bar counter.. and rest were playing table tennis, basketball, badminton etc.. Majority of the crowd was drunk.... All the facilities were occupied by the day package group ..and thus we couldn't do anything but have lunch and return to our rooms.. The management people told us to use the pool after 5:30 and we kept waiting for the group to leave but they stayed till 6:45pm.. thus wasting our half day... We went to play in the pool after the group left and found the water was completely dirty and there was mucus floating in the water.. We thought we could atleast play in the pool in the morning after they change the water ..but when we went to have breakfast we saw a group of ppl coming for the day package, a crowd of almost 50 ppl filled the activity area and pool ... Overall we spent around 18k plus for staying in the rooms and not getting any exclusivity to use the sports amenities and pool.. Even the bath towels given had dead spiders stuck on it..The Wooden cabin made loud squeaking sounds while walking...and thus irritating us even more.. When we tried to use the kettle , we saw it was not cleaned and was stinking of leftover milk ..Also we had shared our dinner order in the afternoon itself but we were told most of the items in the menu are not there..thus making us order only limited items.. All this ruined our holiday and we checked out soon after breakfast on 21st Feb .. When we shared our concerns with the management people, they started arguing tat we should adjust with the crowd. It looks like money making is important to the resort ppl rather than customer satisfaction. I suggest tat they close their rooms and stop making fool of people who plan to stay overnight in the resort. The entire experience was worst and it ruined our holiday.. I don't recommend anyone this resort if u want to spend good time with your family or friends.. It was very disappointing..

This place is really wonderful. I had 20 family members whom I invited on the occasion of my baby girl bday. Their hospitality is good. And few staff members are very amiable. It's a place worth for the price they charge. We opted for dinner buffet and food turned out to be very tasty. Rotis were exceptionally soft. Except for the approaching route which is very zig-zag, up and down narrow and full of stones with high and low steep. Everything else about this place is very charming and peaceful

This is definitely out of the beaten track however they guide you so well that you reach there without GPS. James and his wife are absolutely fantastic. We had both our pets with us and had checked into a really terribleplace in Bekal (as Taj was totally booked) but after two hours there we traveled all the way to Mangalore (due to dearth of pet friendly hotels) and checked into River Roost. It's on the river and it has really nice rooms. It was heaven sent after the hovel in Bekal from where we ran away. Food is great, breakfast spread is more Indian however James and his team took care of us like family. Since my mom is 80 years old he served food in the room for her. Their warmth and lovely property made us feel very welcome.

Located on the banks of the surprisingly full and flowing (in summer) Gurupura river, River Roost turned out to be a great experience for us during our stay in Mangalore. It is at a proximal distance from tourist attractions such as Panambur Beach, Pilikula golf club, etc. The resort also has a number of activities like archery (though we couldnt avail the same), boating (under repair currently), cycling, which we quite enjoyed, and a lot of other indoor and outdoor games, not to forget, a well maintained swimming pool. It also has a plethora of wildlife, birds in particular. The room was comfortable for us as a family of six, with a balcony overlooking the resort. They arranged a scrumptious buffet at mealtimes and specific menus were available when we informed them in advance. With helpful staff and serene surroundings, River Roost was the perfect place for a weekend getaway. Travellers Tip: To reach there, continue on NH169 until you come across a sign saying that the resort is 1.6 km away(as in, dont drive through an arch), if you want to avoid wandering on a meandering route, which is scenic, but a bit steep and difficult to drive on.
