I visit Dzongu in the month of March in.2018. We were total 6 people and stay there for 3 days. Those three days were so peaceful that I forget that I am suffering from Jaundice( I had Jaundice). The owner of the homestay arrange prescribed food for me and take care of every aspect. It was so memorable experience. How can I forget that hike for Hot Spring? We hike about 4 km to take a refreshing bath in a hot spring (it was actually hot for me with 7-degree Celcius temperature outside).

We visited Mayal Lyang home stay for two days and three nights in the month of May 2018.This beautiful home stay in Dzongu is the home of Mr. Gyatso Lepcha and his family. They have over the years opened their doors to accommodate tourists who long to be away from the hustle bustle of the big cities and all the touristy locations. True to the meaning of the word, ' Mayal layang' which means ' Hidden Land' it is tucked away in a location which is free from any noise, pollution and even the mobile networks. Waking up to the chirping of birds, retiring to bed seeing the millions of fire flies and seeing the beautiful Rongyong river and the huge green mountains from the window of our room are just the few beautiful things which the stay in this home can offer. The Home itself is a treat to any person who has an eye for good home decor and clean homes.Mr. Gyatso an Activist for the protection of rivers is a knowledgeable person, who helped us understand the impact of human activity in the name of "Development", his struggle is quite an inspiration in itself.Every meal which was provided had at least one traditional Sikkimese dish and tasted very good giving us the true taste of Sikkim. Clean rooms and toilets made use feel at home. Even though the toilets are outside they are maintained neat and clean all the time. The homestay has two cute puppies which are a treat to play with. An experience which we will never forget and we hope to keep going back to this beautiful home stay to get an escape from all the busy city life.

The two great things about north sikkim is weather and views. the bad is the network and the roads. The dzongu area specailly passingdang is a must visit but the homestay has lot to work on. Firstly the rooms are basic two beds a bench...full of insects and the solution is to switch off the only light whic you cant do. The food was very basic unlike what we read .. And the toilets are oustide. If u have a child with you its difficult to manage. The owners wife who handles the place was away hence the warm welcome and hospitality factor was missing.. Yes you do get to see a documentary on the struggle to save the river. But i felt that the pessisism of the owner about the system trying to destroy the ecology by dams is true but slightly misplaced. When in 2016 the landslide created a artificial dam and became headline news it was the very system that saved the town...and nows its a tourist attraction.. Go for the town.and the beautiful river Rhongyong.

Had a great stay during second week of May 2018. It was a home away from home. Mrs. Samsay served us delicious local cuisines. Mr. Gyatso made us aware of the lepcha community and their fight to save nature, especially the river. Sangdup, nephew of Mr. Gyatso acted as our guide and toured us to the local villages and also introduced us to a variety of plants. Samsay, Suraj and Sangdup were always on their toes to make us feel comfortable during our stay. Bhonsukh (their pet doggy) along with her little ones were very adorable.

We visited this wonderful homestay in the last week of October 2017. A friends friend had recommended this one and we booked it after reading a few reviews. After our stay at Club Mahindra Gangtok and then in North Sikkim, we reached Dzongu - the land of the Lepchas in the evening. We were warmly welcomed by Gyatso and his wife. When you enter this homestay ....the vegetable garden, the captivating mountains, the gushing river, the thick vegetation and tranquility take your breath away. Its a perfect destination for those who want to explore Sikkim in its real form. My kids aged 11 and 13 years loved the place and people. We stayed only for two nights but would definitely go back again.
