  • Not worth...if you have traveled better places!!

by nChirag on September 10, 2017

I visited this place on a several reviews on trip advisor since I was a blogger. Me n my friends family made a plan to visit to this place on sept 2017. Being a hotelier I know the pro's and con's every hotelier faces. We took two standard rooms and they have a category of deluxe too. To be frank the rooms had a great view from the window but the whole property is maintained by few local youngsters and owner lives in Bangalore, these guys made a hell lot of noise inside the premises, which made to lose our privacy. Coming to other aspects like food, stay... Stay: 6/10 - The buckets and mugs were not properly maintained which was untidy , the water jug OMG, you can't even think of drinking a glass of water coz the glasses kept in the room were stinking like anything. Food: 5/10 - Since we had two vegetarians,I had informed the owner about this that we need proper food for them but still I don't wat communication was made the night dinner for was not good at 9' pm they said no veg starter later i spoke to owner and he was able to make for us but it was yuck. Night we were served with left over afternoon food. To summing up we landed up in a average level property. Tips: Carry your own drinking water, it's horrible over their even if you ask mineral water they give some unknown brand which tastes like a normal water.

  • Tranquil place with homely food

    by Arunjith_IND on August 28, 2017

We enjoyed the one night stay at "the Wilderness". We had booked two cottages for two families and we reached at the time of lunch, which was included in the package (along with dinner and breakfast). We really enjoyed the food and the taste was more homely and Kerala styled (as most of the staff there were Malayalis). To add to that we spent considerable time in the swing which was apt for adults to take a nostalgic ride (plus it took us to the Onam days we used to enjoy spending time in "oonjaal" aka swing). Rooms were ok (can be improved) and bathrooms were clean enough. The staff were kind enough to setup a quick camp fire before we had the dinner. Breakfast was equally good (idly, sambar, bread toast etc). Altogether it was a good experience.

  • Perfect place to enjoy the forest

    by Mahesh N on June 18, 2017

Came here with family and friends. Stayed for 2 nights. Very good rooms, clean, amazing hospitality, awesome food. Very friendly staff. People who wish to come and relax for a few days in the forest. This is a very good choice. The one thing which stood out is the food. Get good South Indian and North Indian food. There is a safari nearby (about 11 kms). You need to reach by 6 to get the first ride into forest. Elephant safari, jeep safari and bus safaris are available. Ooty is about 50 kms away

  • Homely Stay

Really good experience at Wilderness! Close to the Jungle Safari, Elephant camps & the animals! Clean rooms, good food and good service. Cottages were in the midst of a mini forest & coffee plantation. Will definitely visit again!

  • A home in the midst of the woods.

Nestled in the midst of the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, this homestay is a perfect weekend getaway for those from the Bangalore-Mysore Belt or the Kochi-Coimbatore belt. Either from Bangalore or from Kochi one can arrive at this place in around 6 to 6 and a half hours of drive. We drove from Bangalore to this homestay. Route: Whitefield > Varthur > Gunjur > Huskur > Electronics City > Nice Road > Mysore Road > Bidadi > Mandya > Mysore ORR > Nanjangud > Gundlupet > Bandipur > Theppakadu (Mudumalai) > Thorapally (Mudumalai) We took the same route back to Whitefield, Bangalore. ORR = Outer Ring Road. The property is a kilometre away from the Thorapally Check post, which is 10 kms from Theppekadu Juntion, on the Mysore-Gudaloor-Ooty route. The property is in the midst of a coffee plantation, with jackfruit trees among others lined up in abundance inside the property. There are two types of rooms/villas, standard and deluxe. The key difference between the two being, the deluxe rooms have better quality furniture and geysers installed. The standard rooms are absolutely nice and comfortable with a functional bedroom. The rest rooms are well maintained and airy. There are some 5 or 6 villas in that property. Meals are part of the package as there are no options close by. The meals are homely and will satisfy the taste buds of both the carnivores and the herbivores types. The property is well maintained and the guests are well taken care by a team of hosts led by Rajesh. Let me also summarise some of the key positives and areas to watch out for: What we liked: 1. A homely property with good food and friendly hosts. 2. Clean rooms, well illuminated and airy. With a steady supply of cool breeze from Ooty and the jungles nearby, one does not need an AC in this place even in peak summer. 3. The property is 10 kms from Theppekadu a tourist spot for visitors to go for a jungle safari or drive towards Masinagudi. 4. With limited villas, the place never gets crowded so one feels at home at any time of the day. Watch out for: 1. The final 500 mts off the main road to the property is extremely narrow, with only enough space for a small truck/tempo to pass. Further being a relatively steep decline into the property, while heading out one must be careful and watch out for on-coming traffic. 2. Do not be surprised to spot elephants in that property, while we did not witness any during our stay there were enough elephants that we saw while driving towards the resort on the main highway. So if one does step out for a walk or a drive early in the morning do keep an eye for these gentle giants. 3. Being close to the Thorapally check post that closes between 9pm and 6am, if heading out by car at around 6am when the road opens for traffic - expect some overnight traffic pile up heading towards Karnataka. We spent a weekend there and post my stay would admit it is an ideal place to be one with nature. A very well maintain property with good staff and good food will I be heading back to that place soon, OH YES!!!

  • Take the Deluxe cottage. Not near the Kitchen as the Swans and Ducks wont let you sleep in morning.
