This hotel is horrible. I am not kidding. I am attaching an actual image of the bathroom in one of their "deluxe" rooms. I didnt even stay a minute. I moved out immediately after this. The staff does not care about keeping the place clean.

DO NOT STAY HERE! - Managers are very rude and non helpfull, it feels like they actually dont want you to stay. - Rooms are old and extremely dirty - Bathrooms dirty - Sheets dirty - Theres no WIFI access - Is very difficul to get there, far from the "touristic area" The only GOOD thing it has is the view from some of the rooms.

This is our 5th trip to McLeodganj and 4th stay at Hotel Dev Cottages Managed fairly well by Dr Ashok Kumar Pretty decent staff but slightly overworked in peak holiday season Food is ok, excellent Indian traditional fare but substandard continental and Chinese But then why would you eat at the hotel when you are just a 5 min walk away from The Dharamkot restaurant alley with Moonlight cafe , The Friendly Planet cafe, Trek & Dine and many more Just 2 km above Mcleodganj, Dev cottages is an amazing place to relax and unwind, an auto would drop you here for Rs 100, while a taxi might do a trip for 200 Mcleodganj is a unique place to be at, just has a few things to offer to a typical tourist, while some stay here for months together and contrary to common belief not all of them are here for weed You could strike a comfortable conversation with a dreadlocked European with as much ease as you would do a Sat Sri Akal to your fellow Punjabi stud who has come over for a weekend When here the three most important things to do are relax, relax and just Relax Over the years Dev Cottages have improved upon the greenery with islands of young bamboo bushes The simplicity of this property is very attractive, all your basic needs are duly met but eccentric demands might just be politely ignored For a Delhiite like me breathing in fresh Pune scented air here is an awesome experience that makes me stay for a day longer every time My first trip in Rains has been equally rewarding, though our grand plans of doing a same day trek of 13km to Triund have not been realised but sitting the the balcony and sipping hot coffee in constant cooing of happy birds is priceless! Have a peaceful holiday

We visited Mcleodganj and stayed in Dev Cottage on 15-16 April 2017. The cottage is run by Dr Kumar. He is very friendly and always available. The cottage is about 2.5 km from main center. You have to hire taxis tun by locals as a shuttle. But they charge around Rs 150/- normally. But if it is a traffic jam like during holidays we went in, they may charge Rs 300/- one side also. But thats ok. The cottage has been priced reasonably. We were charged Rs.2500/- per night per room. The beds are simple, rooms are large, good view from windows, room service is fast, food is decent, staff is helpful. In general, it gave us a very good feeling of relaxation though no luxury. Outside every cottage, there is common garden where one can sit in the free hours, relax, do yoga etc etc. There is view of mountains (not snow capped Himalayas as some travellers photos show). Dharamkot and Bhagsu is walkable distance, but in opposite directions. Dharamkot is very popular with foreigners. Dr Kumar recommended us to visit 'Family Pizzeria' at Dharamkot. The Pizza was no doubt very very delicious, but you have to walk deep in Dharamkot village to reach there. But it is a must have. Overall, Dev Cottage is a must stay place, cheap, decent, and friendly.
