I almost never write bad reviews. But. This was pretty bad. Let me start by saying the house itself is gorgeous, the open layout lets in so much light, and the rooms are tastefully decorated. Thats about all the good I have to say. When we got there it was cold. We were told the heaters were broken, so we asked them to make a fire, but the living room (where they had the fire going) was being occupied by what looked like the staff who nearly 24/7 were watching TV. For the price we paid we were freezing every night, we felt like we couldnt enjoy the living room space (where it was warm) because it was like we were intruding on someone elses home. Just a miserable experience all around.

This property is well located far away from the maddening crowds. Deep in the forests with beautiful views of the mountains. Loved the place and the people. The food was fresh and delicious. Lots of options of soups and salads. Vicky made yummy food everyday. It was a homely atmosphere and we got a lot of help for trekking and bird watching that we wanted to do. Lots of books and games and forests and nature and food.... would love to come back ...Thank you BO and Sheila for the amazing hospitality and sappu and Vicky and the entire team.... Hope to see you soon !!

At the beginning of trail, leading from the car park to the Hotel Eagle's Nest, is where my heart started to ease with relief from the hustle and bustle of town, and began to take flight with the joy of walking through the forest to this lovely oasis of peace. The air was sweet with the scent of pine needles and it was so quiet. As the hotel came into view it was illuminated by the afternoon sun, lit up with a golden glow. I was immediately enchanted, which did not diminish during the entirety of our stay. The staff and owners greeted us warmly, made sure our needs were met and we were as comfortable as humanly possible. Our room was in another cottage separate from the main lodge. It was full of the warm sun glow from all of the lovely windows and the view was so lovely and expansive! It was incredibly comfortable with all the amenities one could want. A lovely sitting area, cosy beds and awesome bathroom! The food that was served was delicious!!!! We wandered to the point for the view and along some of the other paths on the property. The mountains are on one side and the valley and sunset on the other. The evenings had a lovely crisp quality, since it was December, and we had a fire going in the lodge with hot tea. It really couldn't have been more beautiful! All this spent with my old friends, and new (I love Sheila and Bo!!), was the crown jewel of my trip to India! I am planning my next trip for the spring of 2018 and the Hotel Eagle's Nest will be at the top of my list! I can't recommend this hotel enough!

Nestled in a quiet forest overlooking bustling McLeodganj, Eagles Nest is a rare find, a true diamond in the rough. Ideally located, stunning views, a peaceful setting, dynamic hosts and dangerously delicious food it truly has everything! I have been coming to Eagles Nest with my family since 2011 and it is easily our favourite place to stay in India. From the moment we arrive in Gallu and start up the lovely forest trail towards the hotel, the real world just slips away we feel the rush and rumble of life dissipate into quiet tranquility. Then this charming cottage emerges from the forest like out of a fairy tale, with gorgeous gardens, colourful flowers and chattering birds. Enchanting on the outside, endearing on the inside. Each of the rooms has its own distinct personality. Weve stayed in almost every one by now and love them all! At Eagles Nest you can make whatever you want of your stay. If you just want a quiet spot to relax, you are in the right place. If you want to reconnect with nature, there are many walks around, both easy and challenging. If you want to play some games, ride horses, or just eat and eat and eat, you will not be disappointed. In summer, it is a perfect respite from the heat. In winter it is fun to cuddle up in front of cosy fires. Every kind of mood or time of year we have thoroughly enjoyed the place. Highlights: tea in the morning on the mountain side; wine in the evening at the point with expansive views of the valley; conversations with the entertaining and erudite hosts; every single scrumptious dish that the chef magically produces! Highly recommended!

I have stayed at Eagles nest 4 or 5 times in every season except summer. I love the hike up to the hotel, the views, the hotel's gracious design and the tasteful elegant room decor. Sheila and Bo are super hosts and do everything to make their guests feel welcome and well cared for. The food is excellent and the staff even willing to cook special dishes when one time I was on a restricted diet. Because I love horses Sheila always makes time to ride with me and show me the mountain trails. It is a lovely place to have a direct experience of the mountains and wildlife. I love the peace and quiet there balanced by the fun group of visitors who are drawn to Eagle's Nest. There is always a laugh to be heard.
