What's Good: it was clean and staff was friendly
What needs to improve : mattress was not good and they didnt have any facility for drivers stay
Reason For Rating : there was no accomodation for driver. Pls contract with some local cheap hotels or domitries so that drivers can stay like humans.

Hotel Bhagsu (Government Hotel) is run by the Himachal Pradesh Tourism. It is very conveniently located in the thick of the action in McLeodgunj: within walking distance to the Temple of HH the Dalai Lama, Tibetian bazar and Baghsunag Temple. Even if you want to trek to Triund (and walk all the way), the hotel is a good starting point. The room was clean and convenient with a couple of chairs to sit and read. The in-house restaurant serves good food, and there are also several food joints including vegetarian ones close by. I had arrived in McLeodgunj by bus around 5 AM and they could not let me check in early as all the rooms were full. However, the staff members were so accommodative that they let me rest for a couple of hours on the sofa in the office room. Such an act is really endearing and I am appreciative of it. In all respects, it was a good stay in Hotel Bahgsu.

As with almost all of the HPTDC hotels, the Bhagsu occupies one of the prime and central locations in McLeod Ganj. We stayed here during our monsoon trip to McLeod Ganj and I would definitely like to recommend it to you. The rooms are cozy, and give a good view of the outside. Room heaters are also provided. Bathrooms are pretty neat and clean. The hotel has ample parking space for customers, remember McLeod Ganj otherwise is a very crowded little town and parking is a premium thing there. Room service is good as well. Regarding the food, well, its okay. Though, when we ordered a couple of Himachali items like Palda (Kheru) and Mandra, they were not up to the mark. This Kheru thing had too much salt in it and Mandra was just not Mandra but something else. Expected much better from them. Other north Indian stuff was good though. Portions are quite big. Breakfast was awesome. The hotel has a very nice wooden interior overall. They have enough area to sit in the sun outside as well. So, go and have a great stay there (y).

My family of 3 stayed in Hotel Bhagsu from 12th to 18th June. The property is at a peaceful location despite being very close to the main square of McLeod Ganj which make it a great place for stay. One is away from the crowd yet close to all the action. The hotel has another advantage of having its own parking and open spaces like lawns and parks. We took a Deluxe room which gave the best view being at 1st floor. The room was not very big but comfortable and clean. Service was prompt and staff was friendly. The only let down was food which seemed too costly and not up to the mark. In breakfast '2 parathas cost you 90' but '2 parathas with butter' costs you 140. So 50 Rs for the butter only? Even a simple omelette costs 90+. Since the hotel doesn't package room with food its always better to have it from outside.

Stayed here at the end of May for 1 Night with Extended Family of 8 people including kids and senior citizens. The Hotel is at the Heart of City actually on main Chowk which is extremely busy all day. The Police is doing good job of clearing traffic in batches through the Chowk , Sonas soon as you reach Chowk and dont know where to head to, there is a fair chance that you will have to go forward a few KM, take a U Turn and come back to same chaos of Traffic at Chowk and try your luck again. Catch::: The Hotel shares its name with a Famous Bhagsunath Temple and Waterfall and if you are not clear in asking the people around and just enquire about Hotel Bhagsu, there is a fair chance they may direct you to Bhagsunath Waterfall which is 1.5 KM from the Chowk. Suggestion::: Follow what Google map shows in addition to confirming with locals ... dont ask for Hotel Bhagsu , but ask Himachal Tourism Hotel and there is a higher probability you will be directed in right way. Now about the Hotel:::: It is going through a lot of make over. You can smell fresh wood and varnish, can hear cutting machines sounds (also from nearby hotels under renovation) and can make out from their rooms doors and windows (which are not that well fitted ) We booked two Deluxe Rooms, and although rooms were good, but since they received direct sunlight during evening, and with only Fans to support , the rooms got extremely hot ... The Bathroom gate being new was not closing properly, se we had to use stool as a stopper... Food is Good and Simple but people serving it .... well need a little more motivation to serve well. Honestly they may derive some inspiration from H H Dalai Lamas Temple which is so close to property and be a bit more polite & carry a smile in addition to serve better. Parking is ample so no worries there. Location is awesome as it is on the main Mall Road and just 10 mins walk to the Temple of H H Dalai Lama. There are 2 routes to reach the Temple from hotel, if you are with Senior Citizens , the. Dont take the shorted route as it is very steep and will not be comfortable for the elderly to get down that steep route. Instead take route through the market and it should be better to walk and will only take 5-7 mins extra. Overall I give 4 stars to the hotel and stay as the place itself is Wonderful. By the way the pics that you see of the property with a Beautiful fence is now changed and personally to me, the old one looked better and more rustic ... The new one look more commercial, unfortunately ... but I guess its a personal choice . Om Mani Padme Hum

Stayed here for 3 days during the summer. Very good property and access to market and Dalai Lama is temple is very convenient. Liked the room which was big enough with separate rooms for seating and big bed and huge bathroom. Lawn area and has a decent play area for kids where I played with my son. Some areas where I feel they need to improve are as follows 1. Will be good if they serve buffet breakfast or add more options in breakfast 2. Rooms need little maintenance Vinod was serving us in restaurant as well as in room was a great person and liked his service. Reception guys were very soft spoken and helped me plan my days. Overall I feel it's a great place and value for money. Will surely come again to this place .
