Stayed at the Sea Palace in October, my partner and I loved it. The room was fine, but ultimately it was the staff and location that made it great. Highly recommend their rooftop bar, the views are amazing. The Staff are attentive and friendly. Would stay there again.

It was an adequate room but acceptable for the price we paid. We had no problems with any staff . The breakfast was also adequate and the breakfast staff were very courteous. There breakfast tea was just right. The roof top is fabulous . It's very cosmopolitan with music playing in the background and excellent views. It's got a lovely ambience. Also the bar staff are at your beck and call and nothing is any trouble.

Dont go here, dirty worn out hotel Had to change room as was little more than a broom cupboard. Paid another 3000inr for the 2 nights we are staying and room was only marginally better, when we checked online we had been charged more than quoted on website! air conditioning ineffective, towels little more than rags, no toiletries to speak of. Breakfast poor, drinks in bar expensive and beer on tap had gone off but tried to tell us it was ok as we were publicans we knew this was not the case. Overall was very disappointed at the end of what had been a fantastic stay all over india and in 8 different hotels

This hotel is going through a refurbishment (coming towards the end). We arrived exhausted after a long flight at 1030pm. But as we were tired we were happy to put our head down and sleep. This first room we were placed in was to be honest not very good. It was covered in dust and the fixtures were broken. The sink had several cracks in it. The flooring was uneven and the walls and doors were stained/dirty. Worse still in the morning the workmen refurbishing the adjacent room started work at 8am with sawing, banging, cutting tiles. Not exactly a peaceful start to our holiday and due to the long journey, time difference and the fact that I am disabled i wanted to stay in bed until late afternoon. Some chance. I had wax earplugs and a pillow on my head but I couldn't block out the noise. By 1130am I was livid and exhausted. I complained to the front desk where I was told there were no rooms available. So I videoed the footage and showed the manager. With this the manager offered me a new room opposite the one I was in. What? how would I escape the noise by moving 5 foot to a room opposite? But I was again told no rooms were available (despite only booking the night before when '4 rooms' were available). Still no rooms available other than this. So I got in touch with Agoda who I booked with (I use them 90% of the time and I travel for 3-4 months a year, always the cheapest on the whole). They got straight onto the hotel and Voila a room was found. At 130 albeit 2 hrs after we complained we moved to a brilliant brand new refurbished room. To be honest it was small but it was quiet and everything was brand new, very minimalist and ultra modern. I initially put a bad review on tripadvisor when they wouldn't move my room and it just shows you the power of trip advisor as the manager and deputy visited me that evening to apologise personally. They stated this should not have occurred, especially to a very disabled mobility reduced visitor who could have easily fallen over the tools and dust sheets in the original hallway/corridor. I removed the bad review with this as it was no longer correct. They insisted on paying for my evening meal in the hotel's restaurant that evening. I didn't make this fuss to get freebies and initially refused but upon their insistence we gladly took up their offer. It's unfortunate really because if they had given me this second room when we checked in this would have been a 5* review for the price. The restaurant was good, staff very attentive, prices very good. Breakfast included was the usual for this kind of trip, Great position of hotel next to the world famous Taj hotel without their price tag. Prices there are 10x more than here. When the refurbishment is complete I would highly recommend this hotel due to the price and position. I would return here but I don't intend returning to Mumbai. 5 mins walk away from the Gateway to India monument. Lots of cheapest tourist taxis willing to take you round Mumbai. We had an air conditioned roomy taxi for 3 hours who took us round all the sights inc the Gandhi museum. Cost 2300 rupees each which I thought was reasonable based on guided tours I had seen advertised. Summing up Mumbai in a sentence- 'A million Tuktuks everywhere causing traffic jams and lots of history but wouldn't go again.' Thanks to the deputy manager (sorry can't remember his name) for his help.
