Mundra is a small town situated in the Kutch district of Gujarat. The destination has the famous Mundra Port which is the largest and the most popular private port in the country. The town is located at a proximal distance from various major destinations of Kutch district such as Anjar, Bhuj and Mandvi.
Among the famous Mundra tourist places, the Mundra Port is the most prominent and globally recognised attraction. Situated at the north of the Gulf of Kutch, it is the biggest private port in India. It is well-connected by road and rail, which makes it convenient to access. The port has a lot to its credit in transforming the region’s economy and growth prospects. A special economic zone (SEZ) around the port area also adds to the primacy of the place. This special economic zone and the port have played a vital role in making the town a popular place among exporters, importers and traders.
A rapid industrialisation in the region took place when the government offered a lots of tax concessions for setting up new industrial units in the area. The area is mainly dominated by the population of Muslims and Vaniyas and the activities such as agriculture, horticulture and farming are their major source of livelihood.
Though Mundra is visited mostly for business purposes, travellers can spare some time to explore Sinugra, Pantiya, Lovariya, Khedoi, Chandroda, Chandiya and Mindiyana. Two other places which they can explore around Mundra are Koday and Bhadreshwar. Among other things to do in Mundra is paying a visit to Oswal Seri, which is the oldest street of the town.
