Good resort. Have the potential to be #1 in Munnar
by Muhammed S on August 4, 2017
We stayed in Camp Noel during last month and had a good experience overall. Location: This resort is far away from Munnar and could take between 1.5 to 4 hours for travelling depending on traffic. Some routes to this place is in very bad shape. We took the below route which is okay except mud covered in some areas due to heavy rainfall on previous days. Munnar -> Mattupetty dam -> Top station -> take left turn after Top Station towards Koviloor -> before Koviloor town Take sharp "U" turn at the point where sign board is kept -> from this point 5 kms (Look for sign board of resort) -> Vattavada -> Camp Noel. Location:I think location is the highlight of this resort. It is situated in a beautiful valley surrounded by lush greenery everywhere. The property itself has lot of green land and it is wonderful to just walk around the premises. They even have fruits and vegetable plantation inside the property. Do enjoy drive through the national park en-route and vegetable and strawberry farms nearby. Rooms: We were a group of 3 families and we booked 2 club house and 1 tree house. Tree house had some issues which could not be fixed by the hotel staff at that time. So the tree house was changed to a single room cottage. So we got a chance to try all 3 types of accomodation available. I will explain each type of room separately. Club House: Basic rooms with basic facilities. Rooms and bathrooms were not very clean as one would expect in a resort of this category. However I wouldn't say it was dirty. Some maintenance and housekeeping would definitely help to improve the goodwill. Tree House: It is basically an adventurous stay suitable only for young people. If you have small children with you, this may not be a good option. Tree house offers good view and also a unique experience but space is very limited on top and maintenance is also an issue. During our stay there was some issue with the tree house bathrooms and hence we got our room changed to a cottage. Cottages: There are 2 types of cottages - single room and double room. Cottages are the best rooms available in this resort. Rooms and bathrooms are spacious and better maintained. There is a separate living room for single cottages and for double cottages they even have separate dining and kitchen. Also cottages are independent and is situated at a distance from each other ensuring comfort and privacy. You can also drive your vehicles upto each cottage. If you can, opt for cottages to enjoy this place better. Service: Staff were courteous with prompt service. Always smiling and ready to help. Keep up the good spirit! Food: On the day of our visit(weekend), dinner was arranged as buffet priced around Rs.400 per head. The spread was decent and was tasty. However we felt fish was not very fresh. Although the difficulty to procure fresh fish in Munnar is understandable, We'd appreciate if the staff tried to bring in some other item in menu replacing fish if that is the issue. Complimentary breakfast was also buffet. Spread was just okay compared to similar resorts. But food was again very tasty. They have decent parking space near their reception area. If you stay in cottages, you can drive upto your cottage. They also have a small recreational area with carroms and some other games. Also there is plenty of space outside if you want to try some outdoor games. No phone network in this place except BSNL. Wi-FI is available near reception area. Overall this place is highly recommended if you want to stay away from the crowded city and want to enjoy nature in a beautiful climate. However the resort doesn't have facilities matching similar category resorts and is far away from major sightseeing and attractions. We still loved our stay and would love to visit again in future.

Three of us friends went there for a night and spent the night and morning there at the place. The GM was exceptionally professional and courteous. Food was great. My friend who was with me run a Restaurant and he too was happy and wanted to meet the Chef. Great place to stay for families and friends I would say. It takes about an hour and half from Munnar Town. Its worth it.
