We had a lovely stay at Green View Holiday Inn in Munnar; Deepak is very welcoming and helpful and organized a great hiking tour in the mountains! The rooms were cozy and the rooftop offers a lovely view of Munnar. We definitely highly recommend this place!

We went on a trek with Green View Hotel. For 1000 rupees the trek offers a full day trek (7:00 - 15:30). Doing it with a guide is advantageous to discover the flora and the different varieties of spices and fruits. Ganesh, our guide was attentive to each of us (small group of 5 people) speaks very good English and has a lot of humour! Please bring hiking shoes, sunscreen, a cap and long pants.

We booked 3 nights including the trekking package, by email with Deepak, who confirmed the booking back. He asked for an additional confirmation from us few days before arrival, so we confirmed again. When we arrived he said he can only guarantee the first night, but he will try to sort something out the second and third night. He never got back to us. On the second day, after us asking, we were told they were full. For him that seemed to be normal, he did not see any problem. After insisting and referencing to the email confirmation he found us another place - for one more night. He said he would take care of the last, third night, but he never got back to us. After calling him from the other place he said they were full. Again he didn't see any problem. After insisting and referencing to the email confirmation again he also found us something for the third night. But like for the second night also for the third night this was because of pure luck. Someone else hadn't turned up so we could stay. This was in high season, between Christmas and New Year, so finding somewhere else for us would have been nearly impossible. Deepak and his confirmations cannot be relied on as he sees no problem not having a room even after sending you an email confirmation. Better book somewhere else in the first place! You can still do the trekking tour with Green View as it was very nice.

We booked a full day trek on our second day in Munnar. Deepak who runs the hotel was very friendly and quick to answer any questions by e-mail. At 1,000 rupees per person for the full day trek, the offering is good value for money. The trek itself was great. The views across the tea plantations were stunning and we enjoyed the varied scenery (from tea plantations to forest to spice gardens). Unfortunately we did not have a good experience with our guide Ganesh. Ganesh spent most of the first two hours of the trek talking on his mobile phone to the extent that when a member of the group fell over and suffered a deep gash to his hand, Ganesh continued on with his conversation rather than checking whether the person was okay. Ganesh did not have a proper first aid kit and clearly had not received proper first aid training. Other members of the group ended up fashioning a makeshift bandage to reduce the bleeding until the man could get to hospital and have stitches. We emphasised to Ganesh the importance of having a proper first aid kit for situations such as this but he did not seem willing to take this feedback on board. Matters did not improve in the afternoon. At one point Ganesh announced to the group that "this is boring- I am going off for a smoke". It was incredibly rude and unprofessional. We were due to do a second day trekking with Green View but we ended up switching and using Munnar Trekking Adventure who were much better!

We were 5 friends and we booked a trek with Green View Holiday Inn to visit the tea and spices plantations. For 2000 roupies/person, we had a really great experience. We arrived at the end of the day at Green View, welcomed by Deepak. He gave us good places to go: a great place to have tea and an other to have massage. The next day, we did the trek, leaving at 7:30 with a guide. We saw amazing landscapes, and our guide was really helpful! Everything was really well organised. At the end of the day, we stayed at Green View cottages (also owned by Deepak). A quiet and nice place to say! John, that was there at the cottages, made dinner for us, and allowed us to stay a little longer the next day. So for a really good prize, we had an amazing experience! Thanks Deepak!
