Situated on a mountainside right at the end of the state of Kerala as it heads up to the tea plantations, this place is absolutely a wonderful stopover! Mr Sebastian, Sundush and a great staff are very friendly knowledgeable courteous friendly and offer wonderful superb service! The rooms are very clean comfortable and with plenty of amenities! Bathrooms are complete with extras should you need shaving toothbrushes etc. Some rooms had refrigerators too. We were definitely pleased with having a small space heater to combat the freshest night air! No problem with pollution here... Theres a pool great views and an incredibly outstanding restaurant on site too! Thanks to Mr Sebastian and his entire staff for an incredible and relaxing visit!

When we decided to spend the New year at Shola Crown, Bodimettu, we never expected it to be so awesome. The resort is situated at a great vantage point, overlooking rolling hills and cardamom forests, with surreal mist all around. The food was good, and the rooms well furnished. The staff were warm and cordial. There are also a whole lot of things to do at Bodimettu. a) Hike to Old Village - This is where the original inhabitants of Bodimettu still live. A wonderful walk through a dense forest full of flowers! b) Drive to Kolukkumalai - Probably the most surreal place we've been to. The drive to the top was tough, and took over an hour in a Jeep. The view was absolutely stunning though! c) Trek in Mathikettan Shola National Park - 15kms through the densest jungle I've been to, ably guided by forest officials. d) Sunset point - A beautiful view of the Panniyar Dam, where the water turns a brilliant orange hue when the sun comes down. Strongly recommended!

To ensure this review is fair Ill start with the pros: - Good food - All staff very nice - Very clean - Beautiful view (when the weather is good) - Driver they arranged for us (from Kerala Dayz based in Kochi) was great and very reasonably priced The bad: - Most staff, including the Manager, spoke very little English. Wed have struggled to arrange anything without our driver - Hotel is very far from Munnar town (c.2 hours due to bad roads) where all the major sites are. There are some good things to do nearby but if the weather is bad your options are very limited. Having a car or driver is essential - without this wed have had a terrible few days. Due to bad roads the hotel is also very far from Kochi. I wouldnt recommend staying here if this is where you are coming from - Rooms are very basic and definitely not 4* standard. No hair dryer (the only 4* hotel we stayed in in India without one), a broken window in the bathroom and we had no hot water on multiple occasions - No nice common areas to sit or relax, meaning if the weather is bad you are confined to your room - Not able to pay on card. Again, the only (supposedly) 4* hotel we have stayed in in India where this was the case - Charged us more than the price wed booked for, apparently due to tax. This may have been our travel sites fault - it wasnt clear - but either way it meant that the cost was much higher we were expecting and 100% not worth it - We were unlucky with the weather when we were there but the hotel did seem to have an odd microclimate. For 2 days of our stay it was rainy, foggy and cold at the hotel but even just 15 minutes drive down the mountain it was clear and much warmer My overall summary would be that is is a fine and clean hotel and if you have good weather, arent coming from Kochi, dont plan on going to Munnar, and have a good driver then it is a decent place to stay. However, even if that is the case I think it is hugely over priced for what it is so wouldnt recommend it. With the additional taxes (plus a bad exchange rate) it ended up costing us c.140 a night, and I think it should only have cost half of that given the quality of accommodation and level of service (we thought we would be paying c.90 a night and I still think that would have been too much). For a similar price, all of the other hotels that we have stayed in India have been far far superior. I would therefore recommend looking elsewhere

Shola Crown is a wonderful hideout to unwind and relax. Perfectly designed with contemporary furnished, good ambience, attitude and service. Good pool, lots of trekking options n camp fire. View from each room is fantastic! Suggest to opt for full board package and owner Mr (Adv) Sebastian and Manager Santhosh ensures that you enjoy every moment at this resort. Keep up the cleanness and culture of this property.
