Huge spotless room, with a huge bathroom to go with it. Great views over the plantations from our balcony, only slightly marred by a building going up just below the hotel. Tea and coffee and sweet or savoury snacks are served every afternoon in the open-sided gazebo - the estate coffee, is very good, as are the deep-fried banana dough balls flavoured with cardamom. We had an excellent guided walk through the cardamom plantation, spotting lots of different plants, Malabar Giant squirrel, wild bees and several different species of bird. Cooking demo one afternoon was also very good, with tasting of the two dishes: deep fried vegetables and Kerala fish curry. Windermere emailed the recipes for us to try at home. Food in general was very good, and very generous servings, more of anything you particularly like. I also tried the traditional Indian breakfast which included appam stuffed with vegetables and served hot. We left very early in the morning and were provided with a packed breakfast. Lovely people here - excellent all round

What a stay ! Fabulous rooms very well appointed beautiful walks and lovely staff. Sunil and Anoop made it so nice. They spent time with us making us feel comfortable. Anoop is a gem. He took us on a trek through the plantation as well as a national park to see Tahr goats which we did. Super energetic and charming, do ask for him if you want a good guided tour. We missed the hotel and its staff when we left. Do visit the plantation as it is really very beautiful. Thank you Anoop & Sunil !

Stayed here for 2 nights & absolutely loved the property.. The check in was smooth, staff was very courteous & amiable. The food was excellent, always freshly made & only a la carte. Afternoons usually was local food & evening indian cuisine was also offered. Perhaps the only drawback, being a small inventory of rooms, the dinner timing was only until 8.30pm.. We went on the cardamon plantation walk in the rains which was beautiful! All in all I would not suggest this property to families with young children (the food or facilities are not exactly for young children)

The first thing I would say is the pictures on the website nowhere near do this place justice, it has a certain magic. We were lucky enough to have a room looking directly out over the vista of the valley below which although hazy was majestic. The food was wonderful, some of the most authentic we tasted on the holiday (with the caveat that you need to like Keralan food!). There is a lovely swimming pool though I was the only brave soul there who actually went in as it is unheated at 5,000ft up.... but soon warmed up in the sunshine. Lovely touch is afternoon tea and cakes in a covered semi outdoor rotunda on the lawn. At sunset everyone, and particularly the camera enthusiasts like me, gather on the look out point to watch the amazing sunsets.

We spent two nights here during a two week tour of Kerala. Absolutely loved it, it is a small and very friendly hotel, the setting is so beautiful, our cottage was huge, and at the end of a pathway so was absolutely private and tranquil. Plenty of hot water for showers, very clean. The staff were lovely, and although the restaurant food was a set menu, I thoroughly enjoyed absolutely everything that was provided. My friend went on the plantation walk which was quite strenuous but very enjoyable. We attended a great cookery demonstration, and on our second night there was a BBQ in the grounds which served delicious snacks as our starters, and drinks, then we went back to the restaurant for the rest of the meal. If you are expecting 5 star luxury Windermere is not for you. However its rustic charm and the beautiful setting made it perfect for us and we loved it!
