Peaceful retreat in the hills
by Boadicea-1954 on
Munnar is very beautiful and Windermere Estate is a charming place from which to explore the area. It is a working cardamom and coffee plantation with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Our room was very spacious and clean, but it could do with some refurbishment. Our large balcony overlooked the adjoining tea plantation which was glorious and early morning birdsong was a great way to start the day. Staff are all very helpful and polite and service was excellent.
Wonderful and relaxing retreat

An amazing property nestled in an old spice plantation, amongst the wilderness of the Western ghats. The best thing about this hotel is undoubtedly the quietness of the place, along with the kindness and professionalism of staff and the host Dr. Simon. They will go off their way to make you feel like home. Besides, we highly recommend guests to go for the spice plantation guided-tour with the amazing in-house naturalist, Daniel, who will happily share his interests about the bio-system of the region. This stay is the best way to discover the wonders of Western Ghats. Tip : If you set your alarm early and join the viewpoint, you will be able to enjoy the sunrise over the misty valley, along with chirping birds. A great start to the day.
Great Location and Views
by Brian M on
The location of the hotel is very good and the views are incredible. The estate is just outside Munnar but well located for visiting the town or other places of interest. On our trip to Kerala we were fortunate to experience some first rate hotels. Windermere is nearly as good as the best we stayed in and is recommended. The rooms are comfortable ( although a little dated), the food is excellent and the facilities are great. The staff are very good and helpful. Well worth the long drive up the mountains from Kochi to experience the tea estates that surround Munnar.
Amazing views from a beautiful tranquil estate

A small hotel with beautiful large peaceful rooms, and amazing views especially at sunset and sunrise. And a lovely restaurant serving beautiful food with an upstairs lounge for quiet reading and reflection. The staff were fantastic, couldn't do enough for us, and we went on idyllic spice and bird walks before going on a hike the hotel arranged up through the tea plantations and to the top of the nearby mountain. This was an absolute highlight of our trip guided by Antony who was a great guide.
A magical setting amid tea and cardamom plantations
by Fisherman596 on
We were recommended to upgrade from another hotel to this by our travel agent and we are so glad we did. This is an intimate hotel set amid their own tea coffee and cardamom plantation. The hotel provides talks and wildlife-viewing walks around the estate. The food was excellent and the staff delightful
