I usually dont write reviews but our recent experience at RKs villa at Kashid Beach forced me to. I booked through CollarFolks.com( they provide assistance in booking pet friendly accommodations and cabs). They suggested me two options for staying at Kashid; and I opted for RK Villa. Nothing against CollarFolks; their job was just to let me know my options and help with the bookings. Our check in was Dec 25 2018 and check out on Dec 28 2018; a total of 3 nights for which we paid Rs 18,900/-. The cost of food was Rs 1000/- for an adult per day and Rs 500/- for a child per day. I was told that we would get a master bedroom on the second floor with an attached bathroom and terraces on three sides. Plus the food was to served on the first floor in the dining/ TV room( which is sort of a common room for all the guests). We are a family of five- 2 adults, 2 children and a dog. So I had asked for an extra bed in the room as our children are used to sleeping in their own bed; plus four of us cant fit in a queen bed. I was assured that the necessary sleeping arrangements would be made. The care taker, Rohan had called a day before to check what we wanted for lunch. That set the tone for our travel- a positive one! We were all excited for our first homestay and our first ever travel with our pet dog. When we reached there, we saw that the property was nice and huge but in dire straits. It was badly maintained- old furniture with laminates wearing out along the edges- dirty cupboards where I couldnt dream of keeping our stuff. There was an instant geyser in the bathroom which didnt work; plus there was a string of water leaking from it making it looking so susceptible to electric shocks. We let the care taker know and we were told that they would fix it. We were served our lunch but the care taker who also cooked( Kalpana) vanished right after. No one to check if we wanted more rotis( bread) or a second serve. We went back to nap a little. In the evening, we spent some time in the TV room. Then had our dinner but again Kalpana wasnt around. Even after reminding, the extra bed wasnt set up in our room. Finally we just squeezed in a bed as we were really tired. Then Rohan called; I thought he finally remembered but it wasnt for the bed. Instead he wanted our car keys so that our car could be moved to make to for the owners car. The owners announced their arrival by blaring away music all the way to midnight; they were in a party mood!! We could have asked them to lower down the volume but somehow we were mentally prepared to leave the next morning. The so called hosts shouldnt be renting out their place as they have zero respect for the people who are staying a floor above and who have paid for their stay. The next morning our breakfast was served to us in our room on the bed- 6 pieces of white bread with one omelet and half a bowl of poha. I couldnt fathom how on earth could they think that one omelette would suffice 4 people. In fact the night before we had asked for paav with scrambled egg and poha. I guess we were so tuned out by then that didnt even feel like protesting at a different breakfast from what wed asked for. And to be noted that we werent welcome to the dining room any more. The owners were far from being hospitable. We went to the beach and on the way back called up Rohan to arrange for some hot water ( on a stove as wed figured out the geyser wont work in this century) as children would need for a shower but that too wasnt taken care of. We came to the room, gathered our stuff and checked out. Paid for the food and just headed out for home- 2 days before we should have checked out. So much for a homestay!!! Surprisingly, Rohan called up to let me know that I left my iPhone charger and came on his bike to give it while we stopped at a nearby beach shack to eat lunch. Could also be as my husband left him with a tip of 500/- for cleaning our car. Probably it wouldnt be fair to complain much about the care takers. Its the owners prerogative to let the care takers know their job and how to be hospitable with the guests. PS: Theres no provision of drinking water either at the property. Thankfully we were carrying a carton of mineral water. But it wasnt informed to us in advance.

perfect for a group of friends or families, even for smaller groups of people. The stay is comfortable, the food is yum and the vibes are that of being at home. have stayed here multiple times over the last 4 years.

Pros: - ample space for groups and families - they have 5 bedrooms, 1 big hall and 1 kitchen and multiple decks to seat - ample space outside of bunglow Cons: - Food quality was poor - Swimming pool is in horribly bad condition, and can accommodate only 3-4 children - No adult can swim in that small pool

Just back after spending 2 days i.e.,from 06 Oct 2018 to 08 Oct 2018 with family after booking all five rooms even though we needed only four rooms. It is located close to main Kashid beach about one km but there is also a nice beach about 500 metres with a few shack food stall catering for breakfast and meals including sea food. The resort is located at a distance of about 130 kms from Mumbai and about 35 kms South of Alibaug and takes about 4 hours to reach since roads are narrow. It has 2 stand alone bedrooms on the ground floor suitable for old who have problems with climbing stairs but the dining room is on the first floor. One room at the bottom of the staircase has an outer door which does not have a latch either inside or outside.Inside this door is the toilet followed by another door leading to the bedroom. That means the privacy of the guests staying in this room is being compromised while proceeding to/from the bedroom/toilet.A latch/locking arrangement inside the outer door is a must and urgent. The rooms on the ground floor are not an attractive option. The first floor has a big sitting room and a large dining table seating 8-10 besides a large balcony with a ceiling fan that can seat 8 -10 people. There is also a pantry for distribution of food with a Microwave oven and adequate crockery and cutlery. If you need only 2 rooms then this is the best option. But both Sitting Room and Dining Room does not have an AC which makes it very uncomfortable. Second floor has only one room with 3 side balconies and hence provides maximum privacy ideal for couples. The Villa is around 20 years old and being let for about 10 years.Hence all the facilities provided are reasonably old and need up-gradation and renewal e.g., all Window type ACs have long outlived their life and are defect prone and ineffective.Besides the hall and dining room does not have an AC which is a must since weather in this region is mostly very hot and humid.I think Air B & B should make AC in all rooms a pre-requisite to hiring and impose penalty in case of inadequacies. The owner's contact no. along with the hiring agency representative's contact details should be prominently displayed in the Villa for expediting complaints.Villa should also maintain a complaint register. The care-taking staff (Rohan) and the cook(Kalpana) are efficient and cooperative. The food and snacks preparation and the service is very good with an eye for the minor details. They have a small 5 ft deep pool which is a boon to beat the heat and an asset to the property. They also have 2 friendly dogs who are locked if guests do not like dogs. They also have ducks in a separate enclosure. There are monkeys in the area but they stay away perhaps because of the presence of the dogs within the property. The owner needs to be more concerned with the problems and the comforts of the guests and provide/upgrade all facilities including ACs in all rooms including common areas like Sitting Room and Dining Room, without any further delay. The owner can also consider an efficient free wifi and also a landline phone for use in emergency in case of network problem since it is located away from hospitals.A toaster may also be considered to be kept in the pantry. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. The towels and bed linen were clean and in good condition. There is no market in the vicinity and hence it is best to pick up essential including liquor from Alibag en-route. There are some shops in the vicinity where daily need items are available. They have an inverter which takes over the load during power failures but ACs do not run on inverter. They also have a generator which can take the load of ACs also. For the rates being charged the facilities being provided need to be upgraded.

Family and friends, with a gang of teenage girls(most difficult group to please!) visited R K Villa last week for an impromptu holiday. The property is fabulous with its private grounds and a plunge pool ! it is situated off the main road amidst quiet, peaceful surroundings.Dogs, geese and ducks add to the charm .We had booked 2 rooms-one on the first floor and another at the top.The rooms are spacious and tastefully done with very comfortable beds and clean bathrooms. The stand-alone bedroom on the second floor has balconies on 3 sides and the girls were thrilled with the views (also i suspect being given their own bedroom to frolic late into the night!) The grounds have coconut, mango and chickoo trees which are fruit-laden at this time of the year. The food was lip-smackingly tasty and very good value for money. On our request, the caretaker bought fresh fish and prawns which were served to us in different preparations( fried, konkani style and in gassi curry).Fresh sweet tender coconut water quenched our thirst. The girls spent maximum time in the pool interspersed with breaks for playing badminton, walks in the grounds and of course the amazing meals. The beach is just a 5 minute walk which was not teeming with the crowds as we went on a sunday and monday. We played football on the beach and the girls frolicked in the water with a parent to ensure their safety. We saw a couple of tree frogs making home in the villa ! The hospitality was top order with personal attention by the caretaker and his staff. we even had a masseur come-over for a relaxing full-body massage for our tired muscles and rusty joints. As we were the only holidayers, you can imagine the fun we had as we had the entire villa and the pool at our disposal !!! We didn't want to leave after a fantastic stay but alas work and mundane activities beckoned...... The girls are already planning another trip, hopefully soon.
