So we got to know about this ancient cottage through a friend, who had suggested staying here but not using the washroom. Too bad, I didn't take his advice. Starting from the room in general, initially, we doubted that it was a servant's cottage as there were no windows to let the sun rays in and no curtains on the main door. We had to make do with newspapers. We had the staff living in the rooms under ours unlike the rest of the rooms in the cottage, which were a part of the main structure. Moreover, it used to get strangely chilly during the night for a fully packed room. That's when we discovered that one of the windows had a glass pane loose to let all the chills in. We stuffed a towel there to get by. (And the manager had the audacity to say, "I see how you guys broke the window and stuffed newspaper there") The washroom was dirty, downright unhygienic! We also had a tiny visitor (a worm) once in there. Food was super expensive and they have a limited breakfast menu, so if you're ordering juice and cold coffee for breakfast, be prepared to get ripped off at the time of checkout. We were informed that there were 8 rooms in this cottage, while checking out, they wrote room no. 9 (definitely a staff's cottage). We let all of this slide. I wasn't even gonna write this review as I'm not a finicky person at all. But I got home and got a ringworm along with me. Pretty sure that I got it from their loo as the infection is on the inner thigh area and I religiously squatted to pee everywhere else but there. Not fair! Stay here if you guys have to coz the view is awesome and their food is good and they've a 400 year old Devdar tree and the manager is friendly. Just don't use their loo, and don't settle for room no. 9 ever!

Visited the Devdar Woods hotels after a gap of over seven years. The decor of the hotel and rooms have slightly improved but facilities here still leave a lot to be desired. One of the chief reasons for staying here is the tranquility that one gets away from Mussourie in Landour. But we shelled out Rs 3600 for a triple-bed room for a right...which is not reasonable by any means...but the one of the most basic service like running water was missing from the room. We had been assured again and again that this aspect will be taken care of but from around midnight there was just no water in the bathroom and the caretakers no where to be found. The owner Mr Ashok didn't bother to reply to our complaints as well. The food at the hotel though remains excellent if you stick to Pasta and Pizzas. Don't dare opt for paranthas or pancakes! I wouldn't like to come back here again to stay apart from eating pizzas.

I stayed at Devdar Hotel with two other friends for a night. We were given an independent cottage which is reached by outdoor stairs just at the entrance of the property. The location of the cottage is excellent, it has a fridge, bathroom, a double bed, and a bunk bed in a seperate room. You can pull out chairs and sit in a small verandah kind of open space just outside the cottage. Excellent location for those wanting an independent set up and privacy. However, the cottage is not very well maintained, and there were no curtains (!!) in the room, the geyser was not functioning, no cutlery etc. Service is slow. But the food at the hotel's restaurant is excellent. You can eat your meals (we ordered pizza and lasagne, both were great) with an great view of the mountains, completely serene and peaceful. Breakfast is included- be sure to try pancakes!

eXtremely poor service. Worst for kids to ever go. No tv, no wifi, no 3G and no internet. They have bathrooms but no water, they have eggs but no bread and They have pizzas but tasteless cheese. They told us that we are giving you the best room no9 but it was actually their worst room. It is more like a servants quarter with insects and dirty beds. They have only one person to serve all 9 rooms they have. I made a mistake going because they told me that they have taken this property recently so one finds good service and food. But it's actually 'Horrible' there.. Never ever in my dreams

The place is almost 150 years old with old furniture s of that period...old piano..bed..etc ...I liked the valley facing compound the most wherein one can see the Snow flwt Himalayas...Beauty at its best...Great rooms...and the Food there....a lil costly but extremely great (CAUTION: Dnt try Indian cuisine)... Try their recommended food like Pizza...Pan Cake etc...they are awesome...
