What's Good: design, built
What needs to improve : steep climb for going to Mall road
Reason For Rating : Marvelous heritage property with spacious rooms with great mountain view.

Zero star 000 Do not judge by fascinating name" Heritage " U need a courage to take your vehicle at hotel. Manager is dumb. Staff is co-operative but not recommended at all. No backup of electricity even no invertor. Pathetic experience.
Memorable trip !!

We had a family gathering at ilbert manor. We choose this place as this carried a Colonia look from British times. The experience was great. Excellent hospitality, mouth watering food & amazing ambience, all under one roof. Just simply fantastic. Entire staff very good. Front office very helpful and overall very comfortable stay. The location is just off the mall road thus away from the hustle bustle of the mall and the view from our room is breathtaking!! Wish there more places with such outgoing attitude to help out guest with their minor needs. Thank you everyone for making our family get together so memorable, our holiday was worth it.. Will definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a relaxing and laid back holiday. Its worth every penny!! Thank you to all beautiful, lovely staff. Highly recommend this place. Best part, you call out for something, the staff responds in lightening speed. Bravo.... keep it up!
Below Average Management rules, Run Down hotel.

I was disappointed because I had to leave a day earlier in my three day trip. I had paid room rent only for 1 day i.e Rs. 4500 the remaining two days rent, I was supposed to pay at checkout. Since I had to leave a day earlier than scheduled, the hotel management was adamant that I pay the full rent for the next day also. Then they said that I will have to pay 2500 as cancellation charges. Please note i had not given any deposit. The reception people made me talk to the owner who forced me to pay Rs 2000 as cancelation charges out of my pocket because I was leaving a day earlier. ( i had not paid any advance and I could simply leave also. But i still paid them 2000 rupees in cash.. This was very disappointing. It looks like the management is just trying to take your money and is very greedy. Now about the hotel. The hotel has good potential but is is not used optimally. For example the rooms are good heritage rooms, but the carpets are very old and full of dust. The mattress in room 205 fell short by one foot than the beds structure. I managed to hit my knee multiple times because of this. The carpet has been taped with brown tape in places where it was torn. The property is very worn down with no maintainence to the rooms. The equipment in the room was very dated. The shower had the white calcination deposits on its head and it was so disgusting that I could not shower. The water in the tap flowed slowly, meaning there was no pressure pump installed in the hotel. The bed runners had ketchup on them from previous guests and it ruined my new jacket. The pillow covers had the rust stains on them (the orange colour drop stains). There was no dedicated switch to operate the refrigerator. So i had to unplug my phone charger and use the socket to get the fridge to start working. Paying 4500 - 5500 in this run down property was a complete waste.
Forgettable experience- not money's worth!

The management(in Chandigarh) seems not too keen to improve basic amenities despite good location&enthusiastic staff at the ground level, who seem to lack basic resources to function as a boutique hotel. Avoid this property!
Spacious rooms, good staff & not so good breakfast..

We stayed in this property for 3 nights. For our family of four, the Colonial suite was spacious. Though it was April, it was cold during the night that we had to switch on the heater for a couple of hours. Very well done vintage-ish interiors. True to its colonial times. Bathrooms are basic but up & running with much needed hot water. Very Courteous staff. Mr. Pyar Singh was very attentive & gives pointers for the day trips. He suggested we visit Dhanaulti & that was the best! Now coming to the not-so-pleasant part - It was supposed to be a breakfast buffet. Claiming that the property was not fully occupied at that time, they took orders from us for the next day breakfast. Literally we had to tell them the exact quantity of our breakfast orders. Be it poha or parathas or upma. How is that possible? We pre-ordered curd/dahi as a side order for breakfast. When we asked for the second bowl of curd during breakfast, we were told that we ordered only one bowl the previous day! The same thing went on when we asked for extra serving of a paratha & poha. That was highly ridiculous. In any breakfast buffet, would they have limited the number of parathas per person or the number of curd servings? Its not at all the way guests should be treated. After we showed our displeasure of this breakfast circus and calling them for each & every extra serving, we certainly told them on the 2nd night that we may want to have extra servings of breakfast items. So the last breakfast there was sumptuous. No doubt the staff were ok to do that extra paratha or poha but this u-turn from the stated buffet breakfast to breakfast-by-order was not at all inviting. Esp when everybody likes to have a good, filly breakfast before the start of the day, having to call for each and every item becomes irritating. Management, please take care of this.
take a room with windows or a balcony.

Choose a room on the upper floor to avoid noise from the dining and reception area.

None of them are well-lit, all dingy and shady rooms except little bit of 204 but with awful washroom

Take 1st floor, valley facing rooms. Even the 2 cottages are nice.
