Tarangambadi doesn't have many accommodation options but even if it did, Bungalow on the Beach is the no-brainer choice. By the time we'd reached the village, it was night. We couldn't figure out much of the hotel in the dark but seeing a four-poster bed in our room assured us we were at a good place. & an armchair that transported us to our childhood days. Being on the east coast, it was imperative to wake up in time for the sunrise. It was such a delight that the Bungalow faced east & we could view the sunrise from the comfort of our common balcony. & of course, the hotel was a part of the heritage village which meant we could walk to all the nearby sightseeing spots. You can also see the Masilamani Nathar Kovil & the Danish Fort from Neemrana's Bungalow on the Beach terrace itself. We admired its architecture a lot too. It's one of those places where time becomes irrelevant. The peacefulness of the hotel swept us off our feet. At night, the Bungalow on the Beach gave off an ethereal glow. It really satiated our love for all things old. We shared our breakfast with squirrels! The different meals we had here - Tarangambadi curry, , continental breakfast (watermelon juice, cut fruits, toast, omelet, fried egg, tea), south Indian breakfast (dosa, idli) - all were appetizing.

We stayed here for two nights. Bungalow is beautiful and the grounds are very well kept. There is a lovely pool area. There is nothing to do in this area and nowhere to walk to so keep this in mind when you are booking. If you are staying here, you must be comfortable in complete relaxation and not want to do any exploring by foot. The breakfast is excellent and served on the outdoor terrace downstairs. We stayed one night in an upstairs room opening on to a. Large veranda with sweeping views of the ocean - this was really special. The second night, we were in a downstairs room which was a big disappointment. Dark with noisy AC and an unpleasant smell. Im very glad we had the first nights experience or this review may have been very different. The staff were helpful. There is no option to eat anywhere else so you have to eat in the bungalow. The food was quite nice so this is not a problem. Nice place for a bit of R & R away from the crowds of India but two nights is ample.
Great colonial style stay

very good room in a bungalow on the sea shore with excellent sea view.looked similar to old zamindari bungalows . Nice service by the staff and food was excellent. Swimming pool and the adjacent open air restaurant was very pleasing and the pets like Squirrels running around our table for eatables and we had great pleasure of feeding them directly
Enjoying the slow rhythms of life

We stayed in this bungalow for just 2 days, but in those two days, it felt so much like home. So much so, that those days stretched into eternity. We felt as though life had slowed down, and that each second merely lapped at our ankles softly - like the early morning waves of the sea next door. Having the sea right in front of you is such a big advantage of this period bungalow (the residence of the British Governor of this province, back in the 18th century). The staff here top this up with thoughtful service and yummy, wholesome food. We had almost all our meals here. At every meal, the chefs and their team did justice to every dish, fully bringing out the aromas and flavours. We had no option but to eat and eat and eat! When we were not strolling through the streets of this tiny village or sitting at one of the wavebreakers on the sea, we sat in the corridor outside our room and listened to the waves lashing against the rocks. Or lounged in our room, in the midst of period furniture. In such a setting, ruminating about the secrets of life comes as easily as reading a book. Even the sun blazed outside, the trees and verandahs of the bungalow offered us plenty of shade. If you are a creature of the water, you could spend hours splashing around in the clean pool. While every member of the staff was extremely helpful, we had the chance to interact more with Arun, Arun Raj, Arul Selvam and Deebak. As it always happens in a place like this, when the time came to leave, we found that we were leaving a piece of our hearts there. We will go back soon to reclaim it. We left not just a piece of our heart, but all our heart back there.
Very laid back and relaxing stay.

This hotel faces the sea (we had the Prince Christian room). You can lay in bed and watch the palm trees swaying and watch the surf. It is very relaxed and comfortable here - no formality or pompousness. For anyone wanting formality Id give this entire area a miss. Its a nice change of pace for people (like us) who have had back to back temples and palaces. The food is good and the staff very obliging.
Prince Christian for the view

Nothing in particular. I think all the rooms are equally superb.

Typical of colonial bungalows, the hotel is on two levels choose ones on first floor.
