Just spent an unforgettable night at this hotel. It is in the central complex of an ancient fort which has recently been renovated. The whole site is huge. When we arrived last night we had a sunset walk along the ramparts and it took nearly an hour. The hotel bedrooms are in the houses built for the maharajas 16 queens so each is different. Ours was upstairs and was huge with columns in the room, lots of antique furniture and a front and back roof terrace. It was very luxurious and comfortable. And incredibly peaceful. But the best bit was the private early morning tour of the palace by the very knowledgeable and passionate Bajrang. He opened up the locked rooms and showed us magical wall paintings and the details of the extraordinary water cooling systems built hundreds of years ago. The paintings are still being restored by the Coutaukd institute in London who come every year and work with local people to bring back the beauty of this site. We stopped the night here to break up the journey between Jaipur and Jessalmeer and im so glad we did. We would strongly recommend this place. It is so much more than a mere hotel. It is the experience of living like a Mahajara yourself for a night.

This rates 9/10 and can be highly commended; the hotel is in the midst of the spectacular fort (reputedly the second largest in Rajasthan), which has been renovated by the Helen Hamlyn foundation inter alos and money notably well spent. The hotel is sensitively converted in the old harem; the tour of the ramparts great fun, a trip to the village market fun and that of the fort itself an absolute must, beautiful rooms, some being restored by the Courtauld, thrilling architecture. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed, the dining area tasteful, the pool pleasant, the cuisine bland to our taste but soon corrected. Utterly delightful

It's difficult to know where to start with this! The gate to the hotel was very close to the market area and this was welcome as I wanted to see the town as well as the fort. However, the drive to the hotel after the gate was long so it felt a little isolated. However, there is a short cut when walking so exploring is easy (I was accompanied by an excellent member of staff to the gate or I wouldn't have found it, such is the size of the site). The welcome we received was warm, professional and efficient. Travelling with two friends, we always inspected each others' rooms. Our friends' twin was spacious and stylish. Ours was tasteful but quite small. Although we said nothing, the manager was very perceptive and obviously noticed that we were slightly disappointed and immediately offered us a room above, within the same haveli, which was much larger and was absolutely gorgeous. The outside restaurant overlooking a seating area and the lovely pool was a calm and relaxing place to eat. The food we had was good, and the staff were superb: attentive, pleasant, and good-humoured. The tour of the fort itself was fascinating and is well worth taking. There is much still to do to restore the whole place, but do not let this stop you from staying there. It is a high quality place and the accommodation is extremely comfortable and very tastefully decorated. Our room had a terrace, and there was a large outdoor area, complete with sun loungers and a beautiful wooden swing, for us and our friends to share. My only disappointment was that we were there for one night only. This is surely an excuse to return!

We had booked to be in Nagaur for the camel fair, but the government posted the wrong date on their website so we missed it by a month! However the hotel were anxious to make up for our disappointment and were extremely hospitable. All the staff were very attentive and the location inside the fort was so interesting as it is being renovated. The rooms are very big but be careful in the bathrooms as ours flooded every time the shower was used. The only reason I have given very good instead of excellent is that there were no tea making facilities in the room and no fridge. Otherwise all dwlightful

There arent enough words to say how much we enjoyed our 1 night stay at Ranvas. We arrived here not knowing much about the accommodation as it was part of an organised trip and our tour company booked this for us. We had no idea we would be located in a partly renovated fort, which would easily be the most beautiful and enchanting place we have ever stayed. We received a welcome fit for royalty, with drinks, rose petals, a traditional bindi head marking, and afterwards we were escorted to our rooms. It was huge, elegantly but traditionally decorated and looked like it belonged to an Indian Queen. We also had our own private courtyard which was an added bonus. The pool area is serene and feels very private and elite. The restaurant was wonderful and the drinks and food were delicious. Service was second to none. We went on a fantastic private tour of the fort and learnt a lot about the restoration work being completed by the Coulthauld Institute and the history of those that had lived there. I very much hope we can return to Ranvas and stay again as I would love to have had more time there.
