The Mountain Quail Lodge is an ideal getaway for those who wish to explore pristine mountain wilderness. Nestled in Reserve forests, close to the hamlet of Pangot, Mountain Quail Lodge is situated at an altitude of 6500 feet.
Dense Oak and Rhododendron forests cover the slopes directly behind and to each side; in front there is a range of hills through which you will have a view of the high Himalayas.. Looking west the land falls away to the plains providing a dramatic backdrop for the setting sun.
The Lodge sits at the highest point on our property and commands panoramic views of the the hills. Adjoining the estate is a forest that is teeming with birds and wildlife and in spring this woodland is a mass of red as Rhododendron trees come into flower.
Accommodation in the Lodge consists of four comfortable cottage style suites. Each suite has a bedroom and bathroom, common sitting area as well as large outdoor patios. The dining room is on top of a small rise with excellent views all round.
There are shaded sit outs in which to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The menu is designed to give guests a selection of Indian and Continental cuisine, including some special dishes by local Kumaoni chefs.

It is the most inhospitable, expensive and below average property. I had visited this with my best friend, rooms are beautiful but not well equipped. Its a bnb property but its bad. They will charge you for everything. If it is in their will they will charge you for using toilets also. And they charge heavy. Normally pahadi people are the most hospitable people. Having traveled most of the Himalayas I can say that. I have been to remotest of places where the nearest town is about 150 kms, whereas Nainital is just 15-16 kms, and they make excuses of scarcity of resources. There are buses shared taxis throughout the day, but they are just money making people. They will not even provide your friends a lunch or dinner; which is to mind you ghiya tori and dal, basic cooking below 500! They will be like its 500++. No wifi, no water and bad snacks for high prices. Fries for 400 seriously?? Its not a 4 star also. This is the worst experience I ever had in Himalayas I thought its my duty to share a constructive feedback with the owner, but she was such a negligent, rude and greedy woman. I really advise everyone not to visit this property.

If you look for a peaceful, quite and rejuvenating time in nature with an excellent and warm-hearted hospitality this is definitely the perfect place for you!! In the midst of a forest nature reserve, birds singing and cozy rooms and cottages, you will be able to find that peace and supportive environment for meditation or just being quite and having a break from all the business. Some beautiful walks in the forest. The staff are awesome and are serving with all their hearts, took care of us with utmost kindness. Warmly recommended! Arunya

A small place near Pangot village, about 45 minutes drive from Nainital. It is in the midst of a reserve forest, surrounded by greenery. The cabins are tastefully done and very comfortable. The staff is welcoming with a pleasant demeanor and looked after us well. It is a lovely place to get away from the hustle of the city. There are nice trekking trails close by. My family and dog loved the place.

Pangot is a small village in Kilbury forest range ( now declared as Nanda Devi bird sanctuary) about 25 kms from Nainital town. The resort is about a kilometre short of the village. It is a quaint place nestled in the lap of nature. The cottages are very cosy built largely with wood and stone. They have a attic bed , very much loved by children. The food provided by Mr. Ganga and his team is simple but appealing to the taste buds. It is a great place to relax, read or walk in the forest. There is a dense forest at it's backside with a trek leading to cheena peak. It is just wonderful experience walking in silence and listening to bird calls . The climb is little steep and one can observe the change in flora and fauna as climb higher. It has a great bird population and is a heaven for bird watchers. If you are lucky , you can spot a barking deer or Barasingha. One can also walk down to Kilbury forest guest house which is about 4 kms from the resort. It is nice place for picnic and great place to see high Himalayas ( if sky is clear, usually after monsoons). Overall a great place for a short trip or trekking, away from the noise and pollution of the city life.

This property is located in a 1 km short from a small village call Pangot just 40 mins ahead of Nainital. The place is quaint and one can enjoy the nature. There isn't any thing luxurious about the place as it is a lodge but it still has some peace and calmness, you can actually rejuvenate and get detox from all the city madness and pollution. We were a group of 5 and we opted for the cottage it had 2 rooms and a living area and a porch , it was spacious and was very basic , washrooms were clean and had running hot water. The only problem which we faced were with moths and bees which were in abundance (they were not harmful though) but still I would suggest to carry repellents or those electric rackets :P. I will give 10/5 for the service and hospitality of the staff , A big thumbs up . They had 1 care taker , 2 helpers and one cook , Every one was so helpful and hospitable , they can give a run for money to any polished graduate / staff working in a 5 star hotel. Which i think is the USP of this place. Make sure you travel with your everyday essentials and whatever you think you will need for your stay as arranging it there can be a challenge.
