Pangot turned out to be a surprise hidden away in he vicinity of the overcrowded Nainital. We drove from Delhi and though it took us a while to get there (about 10 hours thanks to the diversions), it was well worth the wait. The Nest Cottages remains to date the best property we have stayed at. Simple yet grand in its own way. The minimalistic wooden interiors, a small sit out with a breathtaking view and the absence of a telephone for room service is all that one desires! The staff is the highlight besides the lip smacking homely food! You can call out from your balcony or go down to request for whatever it is that you need. A MAP plan with the cottage was about 6 grand per night and worth every penny! We would head out on foot or drive around for lunch. There are a couple of small eateries around the property serving momos, chai, maggi etc.; and a regular restaurant as well. The Kilbury bird sanctuary is a small drive away and we managed to see and photograph quite a few birds. In the evenings one can just head out for a walk around the property. The location is just perfect!

We were searching for a place to find peace specially from the hot NCR weather, some friend suggested Nest cottages and we booked 5 cottages on half board basis. On arrival, we were quite happy that we booked an offbeat location as it was serenity on the way and a peaceful environment welcomed us in the resort. Some of there cottages are quite big and practical, with big bunk beds. All 8 kids in the group were able to play in one bunk bed's top layer, that is how big these beds were. One room had separate bed and sleeping area for kids. They had some activities i.e. Burma bridge, rope climbing, trekking etc; which were appreciated a lot by kids and enjoyed by all. In all a very children friendly place, We had 2 kids in the room and checked for bigger room availability, staff promptly provided us an upgrade for 2 nights out of 4 we were booked. for remaining 2 they didn't had availability. Restaurant staff was quite helpful they dont have a al-a-carte menu but responded to our next day menu requests effectively. And handled odd hours kids milk requests as well. While travelling keep in mind; - No mobile network coverage in the resort, nearest one is atleast 500mtrs away - A camping accomodation is just close by and may ruin your evenings if you are planning for quite night sleep - There can be few monkeys What did we enjoy apart from the resort: - Drive to the other side of Nainital (5-8kms) and you would be amazed with some natural sceneries Worst part of the trip was day trip to Nainital, wasted entire day in traffic and parking.

I went to this place after (frying no online )calling to the host conforming availability of 3 cottages in eavning around 4 o'clock and then drove to this place which is 15 km away from nainital which took us some 45 minutes to reach and when we reached the place person I was told to contact wasn't present and was told to wait meanwhile we were shown 1 cottage for which we agreed but were told to wait and after 45 minutes when I asked them they said person ramesh is still not back having no mobile signal I had to go 500 Metor to call back the host to get the ramesh and was politely told that they are going to sent him so when went back again I asked those guys to at least serve us tea for which we will pay you but we're told we don't have milk by then it was already 2!hours wait we finally met mr ramesh who showed us rooms which were in under construction building and said he can give us only these when told that when we arrive they we were told that you have availability of cottage and that was the reason we waited he said I can only give these only. finally we were so upset and tiered with kids along had too look for some in dark in that isolated place.

When you see pictures on the internet it just looks serenely beautiful but it is different! The Food, hospitality, cleanliness, everything is just fine - lovely! Dealing is very clear & no hidden costs or cheating - very glad for that! But the birding resort is jumbled up with huts n huts around! All what you see around is cottages. Plus, the resort below which is Camp Mehi has children camps going on which can be really annoying n noisy at nights n early mornings! Birds...? Excuse me ...

The property is nice and cool. They offered tasty food, The ambience is good for bird watchers. The hotel staffs are very much helpful and always ready to cater good service with smiling face. We stayed for a couple of night in an attic room. It was excellent for a family in reasonable budget.
