Stayed with family. The Ground floor is one big hall, with a few chairs, and one desk for reception and check in, which was delayed slightly. But still our request of allotting corner rooms was accommodated. The room was modern, the ambience was modern, the decor was good, bathroom was neat, clean and modern. The buffet was basic south indian breakfast, tasty. The property is right on the main road, so access is good, but the locality is not up-market. Recommended for a short stay or sleep-over.

Hotel Suraj Grand received multiple complaints from our group, but one needs to understand this is probably the best hotel in the area, so there are no other real options. Competition would be beneficial! Like a previous post, a member of our group also complained about linens not being changed from previous guest, but my room did not appear to be the case. The door card key reader was not working for us and every time we were to enter our room it required a staff member to open it for us. WIFI is very spotty in the hotel and is best accessed in the lobby area. Incidental food items were also noted to be removed from our room and the response was that "the monkeys must have gotten in the room". Well, the monkeys must know about the refrigerator with nothing else disrupted. Management had no comment and seemed disinterested. The worst violation was that this hotel has a known rat problem. Members of my group woke to a rat in their bed, another scurrying when they returned and I woke to a rat that made it's way into a partially filled shower bucket ~ I watched it drown! Our bathroom was missing a vent cover, so it's likely where the rat entered. Management was made aware, but there was no remedy and well, it's India. My travel clinic suggested rabies series for my travels, but I never took it seriously until this stay. My thought was I don't approach animals, but one never considers hosting varmit in your accommodation, let alone having that night time visitor cozy up! Suggestions: LOCK up all items of value, do not leave any food items out and bring rat traps ! For me, I figured this stay was a function and an overall condition of Nandyal, India, but one best be observant and aware.

Room was very nice and surely this is value for the money you pay. But little depressed about the service in the rooms. You will get a free complimentary breakfast with good number of varieties. Ghee Dosa with chutney was delicious. This hotel is located near to the Nandyal Railway station and bus stand as well, so it's very easy to commute.

Though centrally located, the hotel is anything but, like its name, Grand. The rooms are decently appointed though. But it's very poorly maintained. It's got stains on the floor and walls, mainly of the toilet. The finishing is bad. There are cement marks on the walls edges. The shower curtain is badly stained. When I checked in to room no. 203, the room, as per their standards was clean. But it was not even close to that. The linen on the bed was not changed since the last guest checked out. The pillow covers, bed sheet as well as the duvet cover was smelling badly. The bath mat dirtied by the previous guest, wasn't changed. I made the booking through MakeMyTrip and the site mentioned Tea/ Coffee Maker. But the room didn't have one. Upon enquiry with reception, i was informed it is given on request. Hence, I requested for one. But when the tea/coffee maker was brought, it wasn't clean. It was smelling of food, like someone made noodles in it. It had the tastemaker stuck on the outside walls of the tea/ coffee maker. Even the inside was smelling terribly. When i asked the housekeeping guy to clean it and bring, he headed inside the room's toilet to clean with water. Had a tough time explaining him, due to language problem, to take the vessel to the kitchen for proper cleaning. But when he brought the 'clean' vessel, it was exactly in the same condition. Only difference was that it was wet - proof of him having cleaned it. I had to spend the next half an hour to clean it myself. They also said that the tea bags, coffee, sugar and cup will be provided in the morning as the store is locked as I had checked in at 4.00 am. Tired after driven the whole day and night from Mumbai, I had to waste close to an hour and a half because of their so called 'hygeine' standards.
