Saguna Baug is located at Neral west. Ideal time to reach location is early morning by 8.30am. They have very friendly and helpful staff. On arrival you will be asked to purchase the entry ticket. They have ample parking place for your vehicle. The first thing they do is, offer breakfast to all theit guests. Its a buffet with options like Kande pohe, Upma, Misal Paav and Tea, Coffee. Post breakfast, a guide will be assigned to your group/family. Guide will take you on the tour of Saguna Baug. We were shown hiw Honey bee harvesting is done with sone useful information about honey bee and honey. When we visited, they had arranged a show of Mallakhamb performed by kids of state level championship. Post Mallakhamb show they demonstrated how fishing is done in the artficial pond they maintained. They catch the fish and allow you to touch live fish. And you know what, they have a species of Piranha as well. After this fishing experience, you can enjoy a small sanctuary maintained by Saguna baug. During all this sight seeing we were offered Kokam Sarbat on the house. Then you are taken to the nearby river to help you freshen up and relax in river water. You get free and natural foot massage by the some small fishes in the river. You can enjoy river rafting at some additional cost. Post this you are offered a delicious veg and non veg lunch(Gaavran Jevan). After lunch you have sone free time to relax. Meanwhile you can enjoy some adventurous sports like ropeway climbing, cycling, horse riding etc. Psst..they have boating pool also and you can experience fishing with the fishing tool they provided. You can also purchase stuff from the farm which they have kept in the short period market. Overall i can say a must visit one day picnic spot for family and friends. Note: No liquor allowed within premise.

This is one fantastic agro-tourism place if you are looking for activity packed one day outing. Close to Mumbai, 20 mins drive from Neral station (exit the station towards left facing Karjat, this is on the opposite side of Matheran). The road is not in great condition, but drivable. Spanning over 55 acres, Saguna Baug is an agro-tourism destination where you can spend time in various activities, take a tour of agro projects hosted at Saguna Baug and also take home local products. As you enter Saguna Baug, you register and pay at the gate and then they take you to central reception which is around 1 km from main gate. This is where you are greeted by Ostriches, you can take a camel ride or a horse ride or just relax a bit, have tea coffee and breakfast. At this point a tour guide is assigned to you who is responsible to take you to all free activities included in the cost of day-picnic. Post breakfast, you can tuck away your extra stuff in the lockers and go for the guided tour. Guided tour is good *only if you are interested* in knowledge of stuff. They take you on an one and half hour long tour which covers honey extraction, modern farming, emu farming, fish netting and some demonstrations of Malakhamb etc. I personally would have avoided wasting couple hours and getting tired on this tour, if I had known about it beforehand. (esp because we reached late around 11.00am and had very little time at hand). After this tour, guide takes you to nearby river. The river water is very clean and they have marked out shallow areas where you can swim or even walk around. You can do kayaking (charged separately) at the river. I would have liked to spend more time at the river instead of the tour. Then the guide will take you to the main reception area again where you can have your lunch. Food is generally great (little spicier, but very delicious) at Saguna Baug. You can do all the optional activities after lunch (some of them modestly charged). They have shooting, archery, zipline, Segway, Bicycles, bullock-cart ride, horse and camel ride, swings, rabbit cage for kids. Or you can just lie down for a bit in the common area on the chatai. In the end the guide will take you to last free activity which a peddle boat ride in the artificial lake where you can also do some fishing. Return to main reception, have a cup of tea, shop for local stuff like honey, vegetables, bamboo products etc and head home. This would end your perfect day at Saguna Baug. Tips: - Plan to reach early, at least by 10am - Book ahead if you're going on weekends, they don't accept walk-ins - You can get a 10% discount for group of 10 - Avoid the guided tour and head to the river first if you don't have academic interest in 'knowing' stuff and don't want to get tired just walking around

I have been there a couple of times, twice with my family and once as part of the school picnic during my kid was in the nursery. Each time we have enjoyed being with nature and experience the same. They have several packages we have been two times for day picnic and one time on an overnight stay in their tent accommodation. that was a maiden tent experience for my family :-)....! Many activities are there on site like first they begin with breakfast and then with a guided tour of the farm and their methods of organic farming, they have also been featured in Aamir Khan show i.e. Styamev Jayte. Very educational for all age groups. Then they have a river flowing behind where everyone can have a dip and also buffalo ride if you want to :-). they also bullock cart ride and horse ride. Then you are served lunch and a one can chill out till evening, then they have snake show in the evening from trained Snake Mitra (who rescues snakes from human habitat and leaves the snakes into the wild once in the week. The rescue catch for the week before being released into the wild they are shown here. And then the one-day picnic-goers can have tea/coffee and leave for the day. One can reach this place by train and then catch an auto from the station, normally the auto charges 300 Rs to 350 rs for a ride to Saguna Baug. Going once in while its worth it.

If you are having good number of friends with you then it is okay. however not that great if you have been to the countryside before and are going with a family. Not worth 1250. Entering inside you will be greeted by Ostriches. Pretty ordinary breakfast and your day tour begins. A tour guide gives you inputs on the farming which is free. You can see some big fishes in artificial ponds which they show as an event. Then for the food they charge you for fairly for fishes and meat. The thing to mention about the fishes is that we ordered 2 kg of food in which we just got pretty lot of head pieces which generally are not that palatable. The staff is good but nothing noteworthy of the tour if you are with a family.

Well, this is a nature lover's place. A must take for the city kid's, to make them understand the nature. I took my twelve year old for a day's picnic, and it's worth the place to visit. Touch, feel and be with nature. The crops growing in the fields were for real. The staff was very friendly. There's plenty of open space to just roam around yourself, but the best thing for the first timers is to be with the free guides the resort provides. There are plenty of natural things to do, visit their website to know more, we particularly liked fishing, and the joy of catching your own fish. There are many exotic animals and birds to draw your attention. The atmosphere is absolutely clean. Food is very maharashtrian style, we definitely enjoyed. One star less, because the approach road and inside roaming roads are in a very bad condition. Rest, all good.
