Ajay guest house was a very pleasant place to stay in. The manager was most helpful and kind, and the staff, both at the guest house and the adjoining bakery pleasant, relaxed and attentive. My friends and I were very well looked after and were given helpful directions and didnt need to ask for too many directions when we got out to tour the city. They helped us find a good taxi when we needed one, or just guided us on how to take the Metro to get places we wanted to visit very quickly indeed without getting stuck in traffic which is always always peak time traffic at all times in Delhi The best part about the stay at the guest house was that we got to know of this really lovely place - run by a German - to stay and eat in Varanasi while we were there. Apart from their own bakery and guest house they run two restaurants and a non-profit school that is funded from the profits of the owners enterprise. The food at both the restaurants appears to be hygienic and delicious both, which is a bonus if one is touring another country.

I had a bad expirience in this place. Even though I booked a room by their official website, and prepayed 10% online, when I arrived to the guest house they had no room for me! So at 5.30 a.m after a long flight to India, I had to look for another guest house. It was very frustrating. I couldnt find one, so I came back and insisted that they give me a room or my money back. they said no refund, but they can give me a room in a few hours, so i waited because i had no choice. after 2 hours the showed me the room, and it was terrible- dirty, bad smell and tons of different kind of bugs :( Eventually, I ran away and highly recommend to stay away from this place.

I booked a room by their official website, and had to prepay 10% online. There is a clear statement before you pay: "full refund if cancelled 24 hours before checkin date". It happened that I had to cancel my booking 3 days before arrival. But... A surprise! There's no such an option at the website. I sent them an email, I sent them a message via webform - no reaction. Finally I called them, and asked to refund my deposit, and the guy answered rudely: "You cancel, no refund". It was much more than 24 hours before arrival. Never trust them, never pay them anything in advance. You'll never get your money back!

Absolutely incompetent and aggressive behaviour by receptionist. After he had failed to register our booking which we had placed a few weeks earlier when staying at this place, he started accusing us and looked as if he was about to get physically abusive. Sorry Ajay Guest House, you're not what you used to be! :(
