What's Good: The only thing good about this place is the vintage part of the property.Otherwise the people in the hotel are crooks. A meal for 4 adults costed us Rs 3500. A plate of 6 onion pieces costed us Rs 60. So better carry some onions if you are going there. People in this hotel are cheats and no warmth in the service.

We almost overlooked this place when we were deciding where to stay near Ooty because we did not see all the ways Traveladvisor.in ranks places to stay. We finally found it when we noticed the link labelled 'Ooty Bed-and-Breakfasts' (Tripadvisor doesn't allow links in its reviews) and selected 'Traveler Ranked' item of the 'Sort by' menu. Still, it was only #8 in that list. We chose it after eliminating the other choices in the list one by one. I feel pretty sure we didn't make a mistake. Even after visiting the #1 ranked place on the list, Mount 'n' Mist, Mystique Ville seems so much better. Our first contact with Mystique Ville was through phone calls and messages with Mr Sham. He was very helpful but sometimes slow to respond. Mystique Ville was very easy to find. It is at Hairpin Bend 15 and has a big sign with the name 'Mystique Ville'. The hairpin turns look like they would be dangerous if drivers don't drive appropriately slow, but that is part of the territory. Our recently serviced, 15-year-old, 3-cylinder Maruti Alto with high-octane Shell petrol barely made it up the mountain. The road to the building is via a somewhat rough unpaved road about 150 metres long, not too bad. The first thing we noticed was the immaculately maintained and manicured garden that extends all around the building with huge, beautiful, healthy flowers of several kinds. We felt good from the start. All our special requests (extra pillows and sheets) were met. The view from our room's window was wonderful. The waterfall, which was gushing strong and making a nice rushing sound, was only 100 metres from us and clearly visible. The mountains in the distance only peeped out of the mist occasionally. At night only 4 or 5 lights were visible in the distance. It was virtually pitch dark except for the hotel lights. The lawn is almost of the same quality as a golf course, like an English lawn. There is a swimming pool with nice reclining wooden lawn chairs that are easily wheeled around. I saw a man cleaning the pool during the 3 days and 3 nights we were there. The food was very high quality--not too spicy or oily, but very tasty--and the portions were generous. We did not try the Chinese items, only the Indian ones. Our sleep at the hotel was absolutely awesome. The bed was big (king size?) and the mattress was a high quality, expensive one, not too soft and not too hard. The air must have a high oxygen content. With no other customers at the hotel--due to the daily downpours of rain, no doubt--the silence at night was perfect except for the sounds of cicadas and frogs. Even though one day downtown in Ooty was a bit spoiled due to rain and getting lost ... even after all that, after our 3 nights in the hotel we came away from our vacation feeling very rested, rejuvenated, and happy. Mr Sham set us up with Mr Bala ('Balu'), who knows the names and appearances of many of the fauna--all the many species we saw, for sure. He also brought a thick Oxford book to show us photos of the birds we saw. Balu took us to several beautiful vantage points during our 2-hour mini-trek. (We're in our late 60s and I'm not the fittest person for my age.) I'm sure my wife and I have stayed at 100 or more places in India and this was one of our best experiences. We both will consider staying here again many times. Thanks to Mr Sham and Mr Ramdas, the daytime managers, to the nighttime manager, and to all the staff, especially Ranjit, who built two excellent fireplace fires in our room, and Naveen.

I would cut short my feedback : View from the property : breathtaking Location of the property : bit confusing as it's on the way to Ooty and not Ooty it comes after crossing few hair pin bends. People without self-driving /rented cars do not consider this place as the commute will be difficult. Food : Good Management : HORRIBLE They will try to extract money from you for everything as in - extra pillow ,extra blanket, pool, lighting up the fire. They will also charge you extra for the room you are staying in We booked the room from mmt and we had no clue the property had two kinds of room Heritage and vintage . After reaching their they gave us Heritage which was soo unacceptable, we still asked for an upgrade for which they said you need to extra and we agreed for the difference amount. While doing settlement they charged us almost double the Heritage room cost we resisted as on their website the difference amount is only 700 but I guess the property owner isn't aware of the way the managers here try to earn for extra cash. Services: They mention they provide fishing jungle trek etc etc Nothing is available and the guide is the same guy who serves you from the kitchen. Moreover he can go with anyone who pays extra for they commit. Weird ? YES Pool : poorly maintained don't swim monkeys will b drinking the water all day. Property : Huge and beautiful but not maintained by the management we saw families drying their clothes in the open garden. Eeeeyyyuuu right it indeed was.

If you ever thought, Nilgiris experience is all about the likes of trip to Ooty botanical garden, boating in Ooty lake, or a heritage train ride to Coonoor, or the tea-estates in Kotagiri...Please think again !! If you want an exciting jungle stay experience in the heart of Nilgiris, then go to this place called 'Mystique Ville'. It's situated right at the '15th hairpin bend' of the Ghat road (road through Nilgiris mountains) on the stretch of Masinagudi to Ooty on 36-hairpin bends road (also known as Sigur Ghat/State highway# 67) The Victorian resort from the British era, is tucked few hundred meters away from the main road, right inside the jungle, an exciting motorable dirt-track connects to the resort from the main road. Once you are inside the resort, quietness of the jungle grips you with a jaw-dropping view of Nilgiris mountain range, at its best. You would certainly feel odd with all the noise from city's concrete jungle missing here, but thats a very welcome change !! This itself is a rare experience and its worth every bit of it. The resort has a decent stay facility, please set your expectation right - you are not staying in a luxury hotel with all the comforts. so, if you find any insects etc. feel at ease, since you are actually in their territory..:) Rooms are quite comfortable, the ones facing the mountain and the lawn, have breathtaking view, never miss the opportunity to stay in some of these rooms. The lawn down below is very beautiful and well maintained and it boasts a swimming pool which is very rare in the entire Nilgiris. The pool is operational almost all through the year except when it's shut down for maintenance. Food is decent with a buffet breakfast and the in-house kitchen mostly serves authentic Indian cuisine (and Indian-chinese too). You can plan for a camp-fire and a barbecue, on special request to the management at an extra cost. Though the place is very safe, please don't venture around in the night since this part of the jungle has trails for animals including elephant and bison. Once you overcome the overwhelming experience of the place itself, its time to plan for some fun filled trekking on the jungle trail. Don't look beyond 'Bala', who is a resort staff and he is a pro in this field. He knows every corner of the jungle - the place to sight animals, the waterfalls, and the best view points. you can plan this all either for a sunrise time or sunset. If you have enough time in hand, my recommendation would be for both sunrise and sunset trekking or a jeep ride through jungle dirt-track. These are unforgettable moments, which you would carry it along when you get back to the concrete jungle of city life. My suggestion would be for a minimum of two nights stay at this resort to get the best out of the place and the surrounding jungle. No length of writing can do justice to the beauty of this place which is well over 100 years old. Last thing to note - this is a complete jungle stay experience with modern amenities but not ultra modern. Also, please don't forget to pack your bags to suit a jungle stay with suitable clothing, shoes and other gear that you may require, depending upon your level of jungle adventure plan.

This place is very close to my heart and one of favorite place to go visit. If I get a chance I will keep visiting this place every 3 months. Everyone working there are kind and helpful. I have no complains as the food and hospitality was good. Its a beautiful place if you want to escape into the beauty of nature from all the hustle and bustle of city life. I go there to enjoy the nature because the view from the room window is to the waterfall and a beautiful valley. I will rate the my experience with Mystique Ville as 5/5. I promise to come back again and again and again to Mystique Ville.
