What needs to improve : Lower ground floor. Colder then normal temperature in Ooty.
Reason For Rating : Rooms are awesome as available on internet. Only classic suits are at lower ground floor so colder then normal temperature in Ooty. We have to hire room warmer at additional cost. Hotel staff are polite and arranged three bed room because we have kids with us.

Waste not good..waste of money Screen have tores .staff told there is no hot water It has timing..tub not working Jacuzzi water not coming properly Renovated room and you can see potholes incl bed No ventilation and not cleaned properly..booked for 4 members But they were asking for 500 for extra bed Restaurant is not good Astoria room is the highest clause room...that itself have lot of issue Imagine lower room.

Full Marks for Location, Check-In & Check-Out Service, Cleanliness, Amenities, Friendly Staff, Travel Information to Guests, and In-house Food Service. After Check-out we spent some time in the exclusive Hotel Lounge which was compact but equipped with all necessities. One specific Complaint, the Taxi Service attached to the Hotel is pathetic, needs to be replaced else shall spoil the reputation of the hotel.

Rooms are luxurious with good furniture and facilities but there are some loopholes in some rooms which can not be known until you stay. Hotel staff is so bad and callous that they can spoil your whole stay in case you face any issue in the room and go to them for help. I stayed in room no 207 - Honey Suite and there was very little inflow of water in the Washroom, also shower was not working, glass was broken etc... Hotel staff knew that already but they pretended as if they didn't know and asked us to bear with it. At least we got our room changed and they didn't even give us the complete refund. To my surprise, they still gave that room to some new guest again without telling him the issues. This is how they are making money from defective rooms as well. Important Tip - Pay only after checking the room and washrooms.

Please DO NOT believe any of the positive reviews in the past 3 months. I am sure this hotel has seen better days and management. We booked 4 nights through a common travel aggregator and landed at the hotel as scheduled (1 hour early). We waited patiently while the "Studio room" was supposedly being made ready (check in time was 12 noon). Upon getting to the room we found that all rooms in this hotel are like dungeons with no practical lighting. The Studio room is supposedly the most "premium" room in the hotel and yet, it looked dilapidated with torn curtains, musty sofas. We went to use the toilet and realised that the seat was not even attached to the bowl & broken. We immediately notified this to first the bellboy (within 5 minutes of check-in). The bellboy stated that he would call the maintenance, which didn't happen for 10 minutes. We then went to the front desk where the "manager" sits, to highlight this problem. The callous response was "we know it is broken and this is the case in both our studio rooms. There is no maintenance as such". He spent the next 15 mins trying to convince us that it would take a replacement of the entire toilet bowl and this was not possible in a condescending tone! He even told us that we would need to "manage" and offered us another room in the basement with even worse lighting as an alternative. We ultimately contacted the aggregator and got a full refund before we cancelled and left. While we were there, at least 2 people called with misgivings about the quality of the hotel owing to the reviews here. As such, the Astoria Residency is a good example of a hotel that used to probably be a 2 star and now has no credibility to have even 1 star. As a family/couple traveler, I would definitely NOT suggest this as a place to stay. There are a zillion other better options in the vicinity with much better facilities & management.

I had booked 3 rooms for 2 night s at Astoria. Rooms are good and comfortable. However what's sucks here is Service. Don't bother to even order for room service until you are ready to wait an hour for your order to arrive after a couple of reminders. You will find a unique bell boy who must be in his forties and will leave no stone unturned to spoil your mood at any occasion. He constantly grumbles in providing services and has a very irritating behaviour. If you missed your mother in law by any chance, he will make it up for her!!! At our check out, the bell boy informed that 2 towels are missing and grumbled in a way that we have stolen the last towels in the world. First the reception guy said , the room wasn't cleaned hence there is not a possibility of towels missing and showed his data sheet confirming the same. Later he said the rooms were cleaned and the towels were missing and blah blah blah.... The kids were hungry and the hotel guys were still discussing on how to resolve after consulting their house maid's, manager, owner and everyone else possible on earth and later took our offer to pay them which we made an hour ago. It was a bad bad experience. The hotel is good for solo travelers and the noisy kinds as rooms offer very little privacy and the talks of one room can be heard in the next one very clearly. this place is for crashing only and nothing else...don't waste your time here. After all everything which glitter is not gold so is Astoria Residency!!!
