Lymond house is a beautiful property and holds that vintage charm however the service is a real disappointment. The attitude of the front staff is really strange and no hospitality at all. We were the only guests in the entire property for that day, in the evening I went to request to light up the fireplace in our room and pat the reply came "it is chargeable and you need to pay 400rs for it" I mean we didn't had any issues in paying however in the other two resorts where we had stayed didn't charge us anything for fireplace at all instead they were so sweet to do it by themselves everyday. So, instead of saying a yes, being helpful, directly asking for money was really not polite. Just for a couple (the only guests) managing few woods must be such a big deal? Anyway, we stayed in a suite and the room was pretty spacious and well appointed, the sleep quality was good. We didn't have our dinner but next morning had our breakfast. Food was okay but too limited food, just 2 aloo parathas bread toast and eggs, that's it. When we asked for one more aloo paratha, the person said aloo is finished. Basically, we felt not much guests visit here and the staff is really not trained and prepared. There are many beautiful resorts with awesome service available in ooty at less price than this one, so I won't suggest anyone to stay here. Service part really needs to be improved. oved.

If you would like to combine the ambience of the early 20th century with comfort and modern conveniences, this is the place for you. Spacious comfortable bedrooms, a gracious large sitting room with antiques and a roaring log fire, delicious reasonably priced food and courteous, helpful and efficient staff. We took all our meals in the restaurant looking out over large well tended gardens. It was peaceful and quiet despite being walkable into town. None of wanted to leave after our two night stay. We will be back!

We arranged our stay through extensive email exchanges but were clearly not expected. Our two nights were spent in the rather curious garden 'cottage' the beds were comfortable - but that was about it. For some reason 'heritage' seems to be interpreted as an excuse to fill a place with random bric a brac, and for rooms to be cold and dank. Heating and reliable plumbing are basic necessities, whether the property is old or new. The food was disappointing and even ordering a packed lunch turned into a saga bigger than Ben Hur. The manager clearly had minimal grip over the running of the place, and fawned over his guests rather than delivering a decent level of service. There are better options (such as McIver 360 where we went onto); I would recommend looking elsewhere in Ooty.

We decided to stay at this place at the end moment because of the location and reviews. I am glad that I chose to stay here because the place was beautiful from both outside and inside. The cottage was beautifully decorated with antique furniture artifacts. On the top of it, the staff was very warm and hospitable. The food served here was quite amazing. We loved our stay here.

after having not so great experience in another hotel in Ooty, we decided to have a peak at Lymond House, which was near by. After very tennative and warm welcome, showing us the rooms, fixing the price for the room (off season and empty) we were more thant trilled to stay for 2 nights. All staff is very tennative, service is great, there is always somebody arround. there is also their restaurant where you can have also other meals (breakfast was included in the price). Very good food, the manager is very nice. the only downside, but not to blame them, is the moist. We could lit a fire in a room though, but you have to pay extra. I highly recommend this place. It is superb and with true charm.
