I am writing this review quite late, but better late than never. I had heard about Red Hills from two of my close friends and thus it was on my watchlist- so when the need arose to plan a family vacation with parents, brothers family and my family together in a truly scenic location, we zeroed in on Red Hill. I must say, it was a decision that turned out to be well taken. Red Hills is a pure and pristine spot of natural beauty surrounded by hills, tea plantations and lake. The property is amidst a tea plantation managed by the owner Mr Kumar who also lives there with his family and personally takes of the guests. The cottages are large and spacious and well appointed. The dining hall is like a vintage log hut; with grand sofas and wood panels. It is a great experience to spend the evening there, mingling other guests. The food is top quality a lot of it being made from fresh farm produce. The hospitality of Mr Kumar and his staff is remarkable- he makes it a point to spend time with each of his guest. The other highlights of our trip was the trekking expedition to the nearby hilltop, the fishing trip to the edge of the lake, the plantation tour, the bon-fire, and the endless hours we played on the lawns and watching the serene lake. Overall it was a great experience which our family thoroughly enjoyed- I am sure in post covid future, we will pay a visit second time.

  • Great place to stay - out of the city, in the nature

Even though it is more than a few kilometers out of the city of Ooty, RHNR is a great place to unwind amidst the tea gardens and a beautiful view of the lake with a backdrop of forest covered peak. The approach to the resort road gives you a feeling of an off road ride. Our stay was absolutely enjoyable. Food was homely & sumptuous. Vijay, along with his wife, son & 4 nice tempered pets, was very welcoming. He was also kind enough to hold our booking for a few months as we were not able to make it on our scheduled dates, initially. He also kept a tab on us while coming to the resort and guided us to its location. The property is encompassing of tea estate, cottages, temple, vegetable gardens etc. It is all very well maintained. We stayed in one of the rooms located towards the top of the property with a beautiful view of the lake and the hills beyond. Raj, the caretaker, was very nice in taking care of our needs & also offered us a tour, but we were more than happy to stay back & relax within the grounds. The rooms are neat & clean. with all the basic amenities. It is great place to relax & unwind. Thank you Vijay & team.

This property is suitable for those who want to relax in not so crowded locations. We spent a day with trekking and walk to emerald lake. Food is tasty with a good spread. Friendly staffs and very friendly dogs. Overall a satisfactory stay.

We arrived at RedHills after a trip on the toy train from Metapulayam to Ooty which was amazing , we were greeted by such hospitality and couldnt believe the beauty of the plantation it has everything including 4 gorgeous dogs so we felt right at home. The food was exceptional as were the staff it is such a relaxing place , I went for a hike with Raj right above the plantation the views were spectacular,we then walked to there eco farm lovely walk and helped with some weeding of the crops with the other workers great experience .lovely place they have it so right.

  • Good stay but pricey

Good accommodation, great view of the lakes. The access road to the place for the last 500m is bad and more suitable for a SUV. We had a good trek to the top of the hill. Cost wise its on the higher side from whatever i experienced in my previous stays.

  • I think rooms at the front as you can see the emerald lakes.

  • Front facing rooms in the main house have the best views and the cottages have the best privacy.
