Palanpur is a town in the state of Gujarat which is mythologically and religiously significant as it is dotted by numerous temples and shrines. Due to this reason, things to do in Palanpur are many as different festivities are celebrated in unique ways and tourists flock to the city to be a part of the celebrations. Flanked by the majestic Aravalli Ranges, the town has immense scenic beauty which compells travellers from all over the country to go on a Palanpur tour.
There are various places to visit in Palanpur; however, the most popular tourist spot of the region is at an approximate distance of 13 km from the town. The Jessore Sloth Bear Sanctuary covers an area of around 180 sq km and conserves the Sloth Bear, which is not found very commonly in the wild these days. There are other species of animals too like leopard, sambar, wild boar and porcupine which tourists will love to witness. Another place visitors will find interesting is the Rani ki Vav which is a magnificent structure located at some distance from Palanpur town in Patan. The structure is a famous stepwell that was supposedly constructed in around the 11th century.
The presence of many temples in and around Palanpur has helped it grow as a place of religious importance. Pallaviya Parshwanath Temple is a Jain temple built by King Prahaladan, the founder of Palanpur, and is one of the 108 Parshwanath temples which are considered highly sacred among Jains. Popular Hindu temples include the Pataleshwar Mahadev Temple and Mota Ramji Mandir. The Ambaji Temple is at a small distance from Palanpur and is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. Furthermore, the Kedarnath Mahadev and Balaram Mahadev temples are divine Shiv temples on the outskirts of Palanpur.
