Palanpur is a town in the state of Gujarat which is mythologically and religiously significant as it is dotted by numerous temples and shrines. There are various places to visit in Palanpur; however, the most popular tourist spot of the region is at an approximate distance of 13 km from the town. The Jessore Sloth Bear Sanctuary covers an area of around 180 sq km and conserves the Sloth Bear, which is not found very commonly in the wild these days. Pallaviya Parshwanath Temple is a Jain temple built by King Prahaladan, the founder of Palanpur, and is one of the 108 Parshwanath temples which are considered highly sacred among Jains. Popular Hindu temples include the Pataleshwar Mahadev Temple and Mota Ramji Mandir. The Ambaji Temple is at a small distance from Palanpur and is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. Furthermore, the Kedarnath Mahadev and Balaram Mahadev temples are divine Shiv temples on the outskirts of Palanpur.
